The movie "Network" could not be made today.

The movie Network which attacked broadcast TV and how we are addicted to it, and the power and control it had over us, could not be made today. Because today, TV doesn't have the power or the influence it had forty years ago.

Today, TV is no longer the big piece of the pie. Instead of the giant networks -- there were three for many decades -- there are today literally hundreds of TV networks and channels because of Cable TV and Satellite TV.

And there is the Internet and all sorts of electronic and digital news. And that makes Howard Beale's "We're In Lot Of Trouble!" speech obsolete in today's world. But here it is, just to remind you of the power that TV used to have.
