At El Cortez, there is a hallway that runs from the table game area to the middle of the casino near the Siegel's 1941 restaurant. The hallway is lined with old photos of celebrities at El Cortez at different times. Lots of Frank, Dean, sports legends. My favorite is a photo of Elvis and Liberace. Elvis is sitting at the piano and Liberace is playing the guitar.
Musicians are often multi-talented and play a number of instruments, but I get the feeling this was a "goof", in fun. I would love to have a framed copy of that photo.
Thanks for that clip coach belly. That was very enjoyable. :) Like I said, I am not surprised. Musicians often play multiple instruments. Maybe you can find a clip of Lee playing the guitar. And even so, I still think this photo was a goof. It was the two of them playing the instrument most associated with the other. I think they were having fun with that.
Wow. Just watched again, based on your information of the dates. Crushingly sad and yet, powerful at the same time. He does look real unhealthy (fat), and there is some of that mumbling almost incoherently that you see in other clips and concerts. He sort of looks "out of it".
And then he begins to perform. And THAT voice. That unbelievable talent just takes over. Brings a tear to your eye (or at least it did me).
Interesting MrV. The photo at EC is later than this one as they are both somewhat older. Maybe them playing together isn't as rare as I was thinking.
The "Sultan of Swoon" surrounded by his harem at the Dunes, 1955: It's good to be the king.
Probly looks pretty good for ninety.
I always enjoy taking a stroll down mammary lane.
