Casino gift shop discounts for Total Rewards members

The Caesars.com website says this is "new" but I am not sure just how new it is, but I can tell you that the discounts now for casino gift shop purchases for 7Stars is bigger than before.

In the past there were 10% discounts for 7Stars players at the casino gift shops. According to an update on the Caesars.com website that discount has been increased to 25-percent. These are for cash and credit purchases only. If you use your comp dollars to make the purchase, and I presume that includes charging to your room, the discounts do not apply.

There are also discounts for the other "tier levels" of Total Rewards:

Gold 10%
Platinum 15%
Diamond 20%
7 Stars 25%

If you stay at the Caesars properties and charge gift shop purchases to your room there are benefits that include getting additional comps for charging the purchases to your room. Of course if you pay with your comp dollars directly from your TR account there is no cash-out-of-pocket expense, but no discounted price based on your tier.

Frankly, I would rather pay with comp dollars than pay with cash or credit for a 25% discount as a 7Stars. Using comp dollars always makes more sense in my book than using real dollars with or without any discount.

So in reality, this new "discount" looks good but has very little practical use unless for some reason you need to pick up a bag of pretzels or a souvenir sweatshirt and you're out of comps.
