Good question, and here's the answer for any of you looking for another Singer teachable moment: this machine exhibited all the signs of being in a cold cycle but one, and in order to actually be in a cold cycle, every parameter must be met. The one that was not met was the outcomes of the five card redraws....or "sweeps" as I like to call them. The machine must not draw any winning hand in 6 straight sweeps--or in 9 of 10 sweeps--and my machine was serving up five card draw winners at the rate of at least 50%.
This was a classic case of understanding how and why the machines are programmed as they are, and utilizing that knowledge to a huge advantage. This was a very frustrating machine to be playing, but I knew a big winner of some type was forthcoming, simply because it was never in a cold cycle.
