Thread: Big Casino Wins and Jackpots

Look... win goals and loss limits work IF you use them and live by them. I don't. I'm a greedy son of a bitch. I want to walk out of a casino with $10,000 or $15,000 or $100,000 or more. Otherwise, I have a budget to lose a fair amount of money which I also consider to be "entertainment money" that I could have used for a golf membership or a cruise, or buying jewelry, or traveling to Europe WHICH ARE THINGS I DON'T WANT.

Trust me on this guys -- I've hit two $100,000 royals. One time I took a check for the entire $100K (I still had credits on the machine and continued playing and won even more on that particular trip). Another time I took a check for $90K and kept playing and gave money to Jason who hit a $23K progressive royal at Bellagio and I had some more winners as well.

Yeah, there were times I left the casino with a $300 profit but if I did it was only because I clawed my way back from an earlier big loss. I'm not making a 500 mile round trip to Vegas to win $300.

VP-wise, if I quit every day with a $1 profit or better, and I played for 15 years, I'd be where I am now. But I would have made 5000 trips to casinos. That's a lot of free beverages, but if I tip, I'm a net loser.

I can't think of any other reason for you to post this, other than this: You've decided to troll is just like Rob.Singer. But then again, that's exactly what I suspected near day 1 of seeing you posting on WOV, so it makes sense. If you truly believe what you wrote here, save yourself the humiliation and don't confess.

I do not play the slot machines much. When I was in the Bahamas I did briefly play a "Triple Red Hot 777" bonus machine at the small casino there (at $1 denomination). Here is a photo below. As you can probably see, the big jackpot requires the Triple Red Hot 3X symbol. If one lucky enough to string three of these symbols on a line, you get 20,000 coins.

This last Saturday night I took my mother to Lake Tahoe and just as I was heading up to the room, I saw this machine again at Harrah's Lake Tahoe, with a choice of either 25 cents or 50 cent denominations. You need to play 5 coins to cover all five lines. I took a flutter, even though the highest payoff I have ever had with this machine is 155 coins. I did like the fact that it had frequent, if somewhat modest, bonus rounds. At Lake Tahoe, almost everyone plays at the quarter level (this was definitely not in the high limit lounge). Since I was heading off to bed, at 1:45 AM, I decided to convert play to the maximum available denomination of 50 cents -- $2.50 a pull. I put in a Benjamin, and after many ties and a few small wins had about $73.00 left. I then saw a Red Hot 3X symbol show up on the bottom left reel, accompanied with the ding of a bell. This is no biggie for me as a single such symbol often shows up, followed with no connections.

Then I saw the middle reel also have a Red Hot 3X symbol show up on the bottom, accompanied by another ding of a bell (but one octave higher) . Once again, I have been frustrated by this before so I expected a blank or minor symbol on the third reel. Perhaps even more teasing would be another Red Hot 3X on a different line. Then to my shock, a third symbol ended on the bottom. The loud jazz music then started playing and a coin shower began. I knew it was a lot of coins I won but it did not strike me how much as I never assumed I would hit THE BIG JACKPOT. I then saw this image.

There was a woman over to my left when I sat down at the machine who was playing a similar machine two over, and she asked me how much I won and I said "ten grand." In disbelief she asked "$10,000?" and I confirmed that. When the slot attendant stopped by I immediately asked for a check for the full amount. Later I was told that when that machine hits the big jackpot, it is on the quarter play so on those rare occasions the handpay is for $5,000. But since I was playing 50 cents, the handpay was for over $10,000. The top line also paid $2.50 and the line with a single 3X symbol paid some extra money so the full payout was $10,004.50. The check, however, was rounded up to the next dollar so it is $10,005.00. They had to have a minor executive hand me over the check (not just floor staff). When I mentioned I wanted a check so I could not stuff the money back into the machine she responded "I love it when people ask for checks so they can go home with a win." I am not sure she was being completely truthful but it worked for me. Here is an image of the check. This was the biggest handpay I have ever had. The previous record for me was $4,500 on a dollar royal (the former John's Nugget in Sparks, NV).

I was so excited, I did not go to bed and played craps until 4:00 AM (I won a few hundred at craps). My mother said she was worried as she woke up at 3:00 AM to go to the bathroom and saw I was not there.

In the morning she told me that with a worried tone. When I showed her the check, she was no longer worried!

Congratulations Fab. I bet the look on your moms face was priceless.

    Congratulations Fab!

Isn't it interesting that the check was drawn on a Wells Fargo in Georgia? In the old days that would have meant a one week float.

Nice hit. Grats. Makes it even better that you rarely or have never played that game before.

Thanks for reminding me of the "float." I do not recall any CET casinos near there so I was trying to figure out why a CET Lake Tahoe casino would have a bank located in Georgia -- and in Savannah no less -- not even in the Georgia hub of Atlanta.

Yes. She went from a frown to a big smile.

The only complication for me was the next day my 80 year old mom played slots in the same slot carousel when I won the jackpot and kept telling strangers "that's the machine where my son won $10,000 last night." It wouldn't have been too bad but for the fact that when I periodically checked on my mother, people would approach asking me : "Are you the one who won $10,000?" Made me VERY glad I took a check so a successful robbery was not a concern.

Floats don't matter anymore. All checks now clear overnight electronically. This banking arrangement was probably set up in the 1970s when interest rates were high and floats made a difference.

Back in those days, with money market accounts paying over ten percent, it paid to write checks to money market funds in New York and San Francisco for the same amount and you made interest for three or four days off the float.

Beware of Coach Moron coming in here demanding to know how much you lost before and after you hit that nice jackpot

Played a new game (new for me) today. Ultimate X Bonus Streak. Based upon the Ultimate X type game. But instead of your multiplier being on your next hand, the multiplier is on anywhere from 2 to 5 hands in increasing amounts. The amount and number of multipliers is based upon the previous hand. For example, 3 of a kind will give you a multiplier of 2 and then 4 on the next 2 hands (in DDB and DB). A full house will give you 5 straight multipliers at 2x 4x 8x 10x and 12x. If you hit a qualifying hand during that streak, the remaining hands in the streak all go to 12x.

High variance and high house edge but a lot of fun. I was losing but then switched to bonus deluxe and got a quad dealt at 5x on a 3-way for 2000 per line.

I had never seen this version of Ultimate X before in Chicago.

On one hand I had 12x on all 3 lines. Got dealt AKQJ spade and J heart. Went for royal and got zip.

This is a good game for poaching multipliers (JB) as I saw several times people going bust with 2 or 3 multipliers remaining. On one occasion I went bust with a 12x remaining and put in another $30. Of course I lost it.

Vulturing that game is a little bit more complicated due to the fact you cannot get 5 credits per line to bet the multiplier. You must bet 10 for them to be picked off.

Question: how do you go bust with a multiplier remaining? I thought you get a multiplier only after a winning hand? If I recall on other Ultimate X games you get a 12X multiplier after a full house.
