Some of these jackpots are amazing. The most I've ever won is about $50 lol.

Dream Card strikes again. Quick Quads gobbled half my $800 in a hurry, so I switched to Dream Card. Wasn't going well and nearly busted when quad 6s (with Dream Card) hit. Then, quad 4s no kicker. Heading back towards bust city when dealt 2 aces and the DC gave me the third. Caught the last ace and kicker on the draw. Got paid and went home. I haven't hit a royal in over a year, but this was my 5th AWAK this year.

    Congratulations ddb1!

Dream Card is a bit volatile for me, but I would consider it if I wanted to try to catch up and I was heading out the door. I'm sure you were happy as breaking even would be considered a win for me in your circumstance.

    Thanks.

It sure is volatile. My typical casino visit is only an hour or so and playing DC shortens the greatly shortens the cycles on the big winners. I don't have the time or desire to grind away on regular VP trying to "wait out" a royal or aces. Dream Card and Quick Quads gets the job done in a hurry - win or bust. I do wish they offered these games at the fifty cent level though.

Congratulations Alan! What kind of Video Poker were you playing?

    8/5 Bonus, FAB.

I hit the ALL at their craps game then went to VP and put in only $400. It was a good paying machine.

He won playing Progressive $5 Royal Flush.
    What, Me Worry?

Congrats Alan. And look--this is the first actual gambling post in weeks.

Nice hit Alan! And, good to hear from you again, this place has been a disaster lately.

  13. #2953
    Yes, congrats to you Alan.

I am just curious, is a winning player required to take that optional picture with the big check? I suspect Sam's town would want to display that on some sort of winner's wall? That always seems like a bad idea to me.

    Hi Alan:

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you have on the ALL? What is the max and min for the All/Tall/Small at Sam's Town and does it pay the non-diluted payouts for these Bonus bets?

I wouldn't like the notoriety of having my photo on the "Winners Wall" but I guess Alan may be well known enough by the public due to his website and journalism work that it is no big deal for him. Like kewlj, I too would like to know whether posing with the BIG CHECK requires agreeing to have the image publically posted.

In my experience it does at least at other places (never been to Sam's Town). It could be winners wall at the casino, the casino website, the casino Facebook page, but regardless if you allow them to take the picture you consent to them using it however they want. Now whether or not they'll haul out the big check and let you take your own picture, IDK as I have never tried that. I had one $15K win a couple years ago that was featured on the casino's website for some time, but, because I refused the picture, it was titled "lucky gambler".

I have had that battle with a local casino on behalf of a client. They cannot make you take a picture or use your likeness without your consent. The casino actually refused to pay my client the jackpot ($135,000) without his picture being taken.

I went to the gaming board and filed a formal complaint. The attorney for the gaming board ordered them to pay the jackpot, plus interest, and fined the casino.

On a gambling board, I think it's called straight-up mental illness.

On second thought, it's a good time to make my last gambling forum post, ever. Can't sink much lower than this.

Good for you and him! That was ridiculous.
I have received small/slight pressure to acquiesce but never a refusal to pay me. The only time I got into it a little bit was really me pushing the point, but even that got resolved quickly. A local-type place I played while in that area fairly regularly took their pictures not with a check but with the winner holding a "I won a jackpot" t-shirt. Didn't say anything about the shirts but they were in the pictures. At one point in one of their posts they mentioned hey here's pictures of our latest winners with their shirts that we give to jackpot winners. Well, I had won several jackpots there but no one ever gave me a shirt or even offered me one. So the next time I won one, and they asked me about the picture, I said no picture but I would still like the shirt. Response was oh you only get the shirt if you acquiesce to the picture. My response was your public postings on your jackpot winners picture posting say all winners get a shirt and I would like a shirt. This went back and forth a little bit because apparently no one had just gotten a shirt because "everyone" does a picture (not true based on my observations of others winning and refusing pictures). It took the slot manager to approve it but I did get a shirt, but I had to verbally confirm that I understood that I would not get another shirt for any future jackpots if I did not acquiesce to a picture. I really didn't even need the one I got - it was the principle and I was in a persnickety mood that day that I even brought it up - so that was no big deal, and I was wrapping up my business in that area at that time so I didn't have many visits after that and so never won another jackpot.

Last weekend I went to Rincon aka Harrah's Southern California with my mother. She was playing quarter slots for 75 cents a spin when she got this. The third largest jackpot of her life. The total is $937.50 payout. So no W-2 G, no muss, no fuss. She returned about $150 before we went home, but that is still a profit of $800 for her.
