I ran $500 in freeplay on the same day as you, and I bricked most hands, walking away with $225.

BTW I'm curious why you don't run your freeplay on the better paytable machines in the high limit room. Sure, you lose tier points, but if you're only running freeplay, it doesn't matter much.
One of the mind-bendingly addictive properties of video poker is that Alan's free play results are now expunged. The machine has no memory of his $2 royal and Alan could hit royals on every single hand he plays for the rest of his life.

This is why losing sessions really suck because the machines have no memory of those, either..

Congrats on your latest hit, Mr. Midas Touch Alan!

...And, also hoping Dan hits that first royal soon so he can experience first-hand why we enjoy playing VP...

I did a little better on my $450 freeplay today, turning it into $675.

I'm no Alan Mendelson, but it wasn't bad.

Dan will never experience any joy playing vp. He only knows how to whine and whimper about how "poorly" he's treated by casinos. Hitting a royal will not do it for him because of the huge amounts he's already lost as an "AP". Kinda fitting that he's a loser before even getting started.

Keep drinking and smoking Mickey. The white trash anthem

    Rob,

you have to realize that Dan's goals are not really winning oriented. Sure he wants to win cash. But his main goal is to rack up points and then milk Caesars out of thousands in comps. His entire strategy is to nickel and dime the casinos out of as much as he can. AND YES I UNDERSTAND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE CASINOS ARE TRYING TO DO AS WELL. But the way he goes on and on about every fucking penny gets real old..... real fast.

Dan... $2 was what I was playing. Only 7/5 is available. To play 8/5 the minimum is $5 which was not in my budget. I am willing to post a photo of the W2G.

It's royal #9 of the year.

Royal #9 out of how many hands?

How was $5 not in your budget if it was freeplay?

I had a total of $1400 free play. As discussed before I have no interest in using any of my own money to play the rest of this year so I played $1 VP and then switched to $2 VP after hitting a few quads including 2222 on 7/5 Bonus.

$5 VP would not last with only $1400 free play.

You just described, perfectly, what every AP goes thru. The only addition I would make is this is precisely how they all claim to have winning years, every year. They self-value all the comps and gifts and junk they nickel & dime the casinos for in the form of slot club fluff, then they pound their chests on the various vp forums. And people like Dancer and Scott further use this method as a prop to sell their products and services.

You also hit the nail on the head about Dan griping and grinding on every penny. To him it's ultra-important because of the losses he's absorbed; to everyone else it's boring and annoying. There's times I feel like sending him a cut of that $100,000 winner he can't stomach, just to see if it'll shut him up over being out-foxed by CET clerks!

I picked up $500 free play Sunday night and hit a $4000 royal holding two cards. Sent photo to Dan who met me at Nobu earlier where he got a photo of the $8000 W2G.

That's royals #9 and #10 on this trip in less than 24 hours. When I played off the second royal I was dealt KKKK.

    Man 'O Man 'O Man...

    When it rains, it pours!

The second royal and the dealt quads are now expunged with no memory as well:

    Big win trip report:

A lot of really good stuff happened this weekend at the Seven Stars Signature event at Caesars. I got to meet fellow board member Dan Druff for the first time, as well as his girlfriend and son. A handsome group. See the photo of Dan and me at Nobu. Gwen and I were finishing dinner when Dan arrived for their reservation.

I showed Dan not only the photo of the $8,000 royal but also the W2G and he also photographed the W2G. See the photo with personal identification blocked out.

After dinner Gwen and I went to the cage to pick up the $500 of extra free play that I won -- we found out about that free play before dinner when we went to the Total Rewards desk to check up on comps, reward credits, promotions, etc. As we were walking away from the TR desk, the representative asked, "should I check to see if you won a drawing?" I replied, "no, I didn't put my entry in at Brooklyn Bowl." And she said "maybe the other drawing?" To which I replied "what other drawing?"

Then she takes out a long print out with more than 100 names and there I was -- for $500 of free play.

My total free play for the trip was $500 for the Seven Stars Experience, plus $900 for the October High Roller promotion (yes, we went on the High Roller and it was actually enjoyable), plus the surprise $500 free play for a total of $1900. I thought about converting some reward credits to free play but there was no need!

After dinner at Nobu and meeting Dan, we went to a $10 craps table and actually won a little money. (Watch out -- Gwen is a very lucky shooter!!) And then to the cage for the surprise $500 of free play and then to video poker machine for that $4,000 royal followed by quad kings. See the photo.

Gwen also got lucky at video poker hitting some nice quads at 7/5 Bonus including 2222 for $200 and she had a profit of about $900 on the trip.

We also enjoyed Shania's show and hiked around Red Rock -- because my plan for this trip was ONLY to use free play and not take a dime out of my own pocket. And because I got lucky that's what happened and finished the trip up about $11,300 because I did play a little more VP after the second royal.

I just saw this. At what denomination were you playing? In another post you asked me why I was playing 7/5 Bonus when 8/5 was available. As I explained, to play 8/5 I would have to play at the $5 denomination... but I limited myself to $1 and $2 games because I limited my play only to free play.

With that said... if you played your $500 of free play to $5 8/5 Bonus you were lucky to get what you did. I've gone through $500 on 8/5 Bonus (20 hands) and not even hit a paying pair.

With $500 of free play you should have been playing as low a denomination as possible even if it was 7/5 Bonus.... and not the coveted full pay 8/5 Bonus.

Alan, are we posting tax forms now with the jackpot pictures? Or why did you put it here? Did Dan strongarm you into doing it? He's such a brute!

You did what was reasonable--he doesn't seem the type that approaches anything, esp. his vp play, in that manner. For instance, here he is criticizing you for playing a game that pays FIVE CREDITS LESS FOR A FH THAN THE "FULL-PAY" VERSION" after an $8k royal, and he still hasn't realized that 9/6 JoB will never get him anywhere unless he hits a royal. As I've always said to those that come to me for advice, some people have the aptitude to play vp intelligently; others do not.... and they should not be playing it. Ever.

I posted the tax form because there were doubts expressed about my being lucky. I WILL POST ALL W2G FORMS for all royals on request.

    Alan,

There were never any doubts about your wins. You truly are a degenerate!! The questions were always about how you embellish the truth and make yourself out to be the best VP player on the planet. I have always had about five or six questions for you but unfortunately I don't have the time to hash them out now. I will however begin with #1 as a real softball question. (and btw I used to watch you on CBS all the time as a kid! Loved ya!!)

#1. (softball lobbed right in there for you. In little league we used to call these confidence builders).

When your son Jason "won" the poker tournament at Hollywood Park why did you say that he won? When in fact you could have said that he came in 5th? And please give me a little credit as to my knowledge of poker. I understand EXACTLY what a chop means. But the fact that you embellished the win leads to many more questions. Most people would have said that they chopped the tourney. Am I not correct? And YES ONCE AGAIN i understand that it may be a father's exuberance. But that leads to your constant embellishment.

Interesting. How about a requirement for EVERYONE who hits royals and posts pictures of them, to also post the tax forms if they're over $1199.99?

One grain of luck worth whole field of knowledge.

For the record, I never doubed Alan's 10 royals. Alan has never lied out here to my knowledge. He's not like Rob "Mr. 100k" Singer in that respect.
