Hi Chimp what a great hit! I was wondering if you're playing at Rincon on the last Saturday of this month? I get a feeling the casino will be really packed. I'm also wondering if you see more hand pays in the high limits room as compared to the other areas in the casino.
It only makes sense that there are more handpays in the high limit room because of the higher denominations. When they had $100 video poker a slot attendant stood at the machines since a 3oak was a W2G.
Hi Quad. I usually avoid the last Saturday drawing days because I never get called. But the few times I have gone I haven't thought that it has been overly crowded. And its been pretty empty all the times I've been there this month. Someone else here might have a better insight on the drawings days than I do.
And, as Alan said, high limits does get more jackpots by default.
I have been called for the $1000 free plays several times and usually in the first two drawings. If there's a "trick" it's to get there early when the number of entrants is small.
I predict that if Chimp shows up on Saturday she will win the $50000. She's on a roll.
Haha! That would be sweet.
I think I might take the advice of Alan. Get there early when the entrants numbers are small. Makes perfect sense. After all Alan knows best! Kind of like Father knows best!
Wait........I think that was a TV show. Alan are you a movie star as well?
Well I've done a couple of movies but just small parts. :-)
Speaking of Saturday.
This Saturday is in fact the last Saturday of the month and there are a few other things going on at Rincon in addition to the drawings.
At 11 AM there are auditions for Wheel Of Fortune. I do not have any information on this. Probably best to call the casino for details.
At 8 PM there is "Dueling Pianos Experience" in the event center.
By invitation only you and a guest will enjoy appetizers and a show featuring hits from the 50's to modern day by dueling pianos. Plus pick your tune for a chance to win a share of $10,000 in free play. Every song you request will earn an entry into the night's free play drawing.
Well, this big win isn't so big when you look at some of the giant wins that some of our Forum members have hit lately. This is my first royal of 2015, and it came at 25-cent video poker, single line. I was at Rincon and I had only $120 of free play, so I was only playing 25-cent video poker. Machine #3116 was occupied so I sat down at the multi game machine just to the right of it, on the aisle, and played 8/5 Bonus. Holding just two cards it filled in the royal. This machine did lock up for a hand pay.
I hit a $5 royal on this same machine about three years ago. About a month ago I saw a man hit a $5 royal on it, and about three months ago a young girl playing only one quarter hit a royal on it. That's three royals.
By the way, after I got the hand pay, I changed denominations on the machine and found that the royal also showed at 50-cents, one-dollar and five-dollars. There is no $2 game on this machine.
For those of you who might be curious, the machine seemed to be "hot" right before the royal giving me flushes and straights and full houses, and several times dealing me trip-aces but they did not improve to quads.
Alan, so they didn't change the pay tables on Bonus Poker nor Aces and Faces YET?
Good to hear. By the way, if you hit this Royal at Rincon why didn't you post this under
CALIFORNIA CASINOS?
Why did it go to hand pay mode if it was only $1000?

Hi Alan:
Congratulations. Don't apologize about playing quarters as any royal is a good royal (as long as you had max coin). I remember I was playing triple bonus something at Green Valley Ranch and got something like a $1000 win years ago (definitely less than $1,200). But the machine locked up and it needed to be a hand pay even though it was a TITO machine. Never figured out why other than it was a way to get tips for slot staff.
FAB
Most of the $1 and lower video poker machines at Rincon are set for handpays at $1000. But I think they are starting to change that.
A few weeks ago I hit quad aces at 25-cents on Royal Aces Bonus which pays $1,000 (like a royal) but the credits added to the machine and I was able to cash them out with a ticket. (This was not on 3116. On 3116 when I got AAAA playing Royal Aces the machine locked up for $1,000.)
I think they want to do away with the small handpays as it's a strain on the slot crew. I think in the past they wanted the handpays to generate tips for the slot crew. But now there are fewer slot attendants, and plenty of handpays at higher denominations that lock the machines.
Congrats Alan! I saw you walking past high limits. It was a madhouse today.
Looks like Alan is not having as good of a year this year. It's so nice when you're hitting nice jackpots on a regular basis. When they disappear the game is not as much fun. If you keep planing, eventually all bad streaks (and good streaks) will end.
Even though I haven't used a mobile device to take jackpot pictures for this thread, I have to grudgingly admit that arci brings up a good point.
I had a GREAT 2012-2013 sprinkled with all sorts of royals. From roughly May 2014 to the present date, my luck has been awful with no end in sight. No royals in almost a year. Lots of bad sessions with no (or very few) quads, too.
Long hot and cold streaks can really play tricks with your mind! Feeling invincible when hot, and feeling that the misery will never end when cold.
A couple years ago I had a royal flush drought that lasted a full year despite play of about once a week. Sh!@ happens.
Alan: Yeah, I remember that well. You said you went almost 200K hands without a royal. I had a scary streak back in 2007 of about 500,000 hands without one (played a lot more back then). One saving grace back in 2007 was that I still had a lot of sessions with a healthy share of quads. Not this time around (with a couple of notable exceptions).
