Burlington Coat Factory is currently running a Christmas shopping TV commercial with sale items displayed on an image that mimics a slot machine. This is intriguing because it is a sign that casino gambling -- slot machines -- are no longer off-limits or out of bounds or taboo.

It shows that gambling is main stream America and Burlington Coal Factory is appealing to that main stream, middle America, consumer.

If gambling were still taboo in America, a company such as Burlington Coat Factory probably wouldn't risk using the image of a slot machine to advertise its holiday sale items. If gambling were taboo, the image of a slot machine would get in the way of the message about the sale.
