I was just reading on another website about how crowded the pedestrian bridges over The Strip have become with musicians, vendors, pan handlers in addition to pedestrians just trying to safely get across to the other side.

Unfortunately, when you walk on one of these pedestrian bridges it is difficult to know if the pan handler or vendor or ticket scalper on the bridge is there to conduct business in a safe and honorable way, or if he is going to attack you, mug you, or rob you.

It's hard to walk-around or get out of the way of someone who is standing in the middle of a pedestrian bridge. If it doesn't look safe you have two options -- turn around and go back where you came from, or, chance it as you walk by.

While pan handlers and musicians playing for money, and street vendors, and those handing out cards to clubs, have their rights and need their space -- I think it would be wise for city authorities to enforce a rule of "no standing" and "no sitting" and no pan handling or begging or selling on those pedestrian bridges. The police should make sure the bridges are open so pedestrians can safely walk without having to face or deal with anyone.

Should there be an incident, you wouldn't want it in the center of one of those bridges when it would take some time for help to arrive.

Keep the pedestrian bridges open and for pedestrians only.
