Other than gold, what area of the stock market do you actively invest in Alan?
I don't pick stocks. I believe in broad based mutual funds.
I am surprised you do not enjoy picking stocks. To me in many ways it is like playing Video Poker. The last four and a half years in the stock market have been great. It has been like going to the casino when they raise the payback percentages from 97% up to 100%. I am sure there are some people who have lost money in this time but it would be hard to do b/c most sectors keep going upwards. Lately my gold / silver positions and utility stocks have been taking a beating. I think a 5 to 10% correction in both the s&p and the dow is inevitable so I have been taking profits. If gold and utilities go much lower I am considering adding to these positions.
Let me add that the longer it takes to get the 5 to 10% pullback, the larger the correction is likely to be.
