By now, everyone has seen the Russian dash cam video of the meteor exploding. Well, people have started to ask why there are so many videos of the meteor and why so many "dash cam videos" and the reason is many Russians have dash cams for insurance and legal reasons.
The dash cam videos are likely to make this the "must have accessory" for car owners. Several auto makers already have rear view cameras for safety, but the next wave could be video monitoring cameras for vacations. Some auto company might even make the mounted cameras removable and portable and that isn't hard to do with today's technology either. Of course, the control panel will include a Facebook posting option and a Twitter option!!
I'm expecting to see some enterprising auto accessory company or car audio/video company to start a "Catch A Falling Star or a Walking Star" dash camera promotion any day now. These dash cams could become cruising essentials for driving up and down Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.
The new dash cam craze could lead to all sorts of news coverage videos of freeway high speed chases, as well as a new genre of citizen journalists covering auto accidents, and giving traffic updates on traffic jams, construction projects and more.
And the dash cams will also give the Paparazzi the opportunity to have 24/7 monitoring of celebrities simply by parking their cars across the street from the celeb's home -- turning the camera "on" -- and leaving. Yes, even on a stake out the Paparazzi can have an enjoyable lunch or dinner.
