Thread: Cafrino.com is back with its free-to-play cash tournament

  1. #1
I just got an email from online poker site Cafrino.com that starting tonight... in just a couple of hours... it is going to resume it free-to-play multi-table cash tournament.

    Attention Cafrino players!
The $100 MTT is back! Join us TONIGHT at 9PM EST and sit down to take a shot at winning some cash! Registration is now OPEN

The last of these tournaments was run on Christmas Day (I won it ) and this is the first one since then.

The prize pool is supposed to be $100 according to the email and before the nightly tournaments had a $50 prize pool.

Go to www.cafrino.com for the free sign up.

The site has been absolutely "dead" for the last few weeks, and it took me weeks to get the small cash wins that I won in various tournaments. I wonder if they're back now?

Second hand of the tournament, I flop a straight, make a bet... and then the game locks up and I am bounced off the site. I just tried to get back on using both Google Chrome and IE and cannot log back in.

Edited to add: for about the last 15 minutes I've been trying to get back onto the site using both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. Either the site is unavailable or I can get past the home page of the site to log on to the site.

This site has had too many problems. Like any good poker player who knows he is beaten -- this site should fold.

Before I got bounced I noticed that the number of entries in the tournament was very low. Prior to the tournament, it was difficult to find even one other player for the heads-up games.

The "second try" for cafrino.com was a bust for me.

It's been more than a half hour and I finally got back onto the site and it appears the tournament is "dead" and the tournament standings show 0/179 players remain. I sent an email to support@cafrino.com when the problem first occurred and did not get a response. I have a feeling that they are being swamped with emails.

Cafrino.com has had a history of slow payments, poor player participation, and operational problems. I think cafrino.com should do what any good poker player would do when they realize they are beaten -- this site should fold.

The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas now has a free online poker site -- no cash prizes but if you want to play for fun at least the Stratosphere site works smoothly.

Yep, Cafrino crashed. Imagine that -- first for-money tournament since Christmas and the site crashes on the second hand played. I got this email a short time ago:

    Cafrino Players,
We apologize for the crash tonight during the $100 FreeRoll tournament. We are working through the Amazon server issue and will you know when registrations are open again. Thank you for your patience. We will have another tournament soon with an increased prize pool.

Please stay tuned for a further update in the coming days.
