Thread: New promotion at Harrah's Rincon

Harrah's Rincon is the "test casino" for the Caesars casinos. Rincon was the first casino to get to get the machine top "touch screen" display for downloading comps, ordering drinks, adding free play to your machine, making reservations -- all without leaving your seat at a slot machine or video poker game. See the photo below.

Rincon has since tried some other "firsts" in terms of promotions. About a year ago it was the first to have three different tiers for Diamond players -- and that is something all of Total Rewards will have soon.

And about three weeks ago, Rincon added another "promotion" for play on certain days and it wasn't advertised -- extra comp points (Total Rewards reward points) when you inserted your card into any machine. When I inserted my card a message came on the screen that said I was being awarded 10,700 bonus reward credits which is the equivalent of $107 for meals and such, and $50 worth Shell and Arco gas cards and Macy's gift cards that I could have redeemed immediately at the Rincon gift shop... or $50 of free play.

But yesterday I got a mailer indicating that every Tuesday in March when I insert my card I will get 25,000 reward credits added to my account which is $250 of dining, or $125 of free play, gas cards, Macy's cards.

There are also Visa cards available for comp points but thee is a slight redemption premium of about 7%.

Starting in April these comp points will be worth even more for certain players because the redemption rates go down for free play if you are 7Stars or Diamond.

I just found out that Rincon has also added a "high hand prize" in its poker room -- this is for live poker. There are cash prizes for drawing a royal, straight flush, four of a kind. And there is no limit to the number of these high-hand rewards in the course of a day, according to the player who saw the sign at Rincon. I haven't checked it out yet.

Other casinos have had "high hand" awards. At the Bicycle they used to give out iPads or laptops -- but this was a short term promotion and I haven't seen it there in more than six months. And there was only one winner per day. At the time, I had a straight flush with 7-high, on the same day a player had a ten-high straight flush. So I lost.

At Hollywood Park Casino there was a promotion about six months ago that paid $100 cash if you got three qualifying high-hands (quads or better) in a month. Ironically a week after that promotion ended I got three quads at one table in less than an hour. Hollywood Park also has a daily prize for all high hands -- which is a ticket to a special tournament on Tuesday mornings which I think pays a few hundred dollars. It's an "elimination tournament" with each player only allowed to play one of two dealt hands and the high hand of each "hand" moves on to an elimination round.

Alan, you're becoming more of an APer without even trying.
