Thread: I really wish Bob Dancer would win... for a change.

His latest "promotional" run at The Palms:

    Does he ever win?

Alan, you don't understand. Bob will not give out the best opportunities. He would love it if all his competition played at the places he writes about. I suspect they are what I used to call secondary plays. They fill the gaps between the good plays.

Arc you might be 100% right, but for a guy who is selling books, a web column, lectures, software, etc., only reporting these big losses does him no good. Honestly, if you only read about these losses would you think the guy knows that the heck he's talking about? I can just imagine some new player reading the article and saying "why would I want to pay this guy for advice?"

I'm sure the guy wins. He said at the end of the column that he expects to have a profitable year. Well, show us some profits for heaven's sake!!

Alan, that's exactly what Bob wants. He doesn't want any competition. Now, I'll agree that one has to wonder why anyone would keep printing these columns but I do believe there's a reason why they are all losses.

I guess it's a trade-off. I would guess the column does not get many reads by those interested in his products so it's probably not that big a deal. Could be wrong.

Wow ultimate x, it's like throwing your money down a hole. Oh by the way the guy looks pretty good for 78 don't he. On another note I'm not any kind of big vp player but I was in AC and noticed something odd. It seems that the casinos are stealing half a bet off of each player. When it comes time to play your last hand you should be able to play half the bet to make up for the half a bet that you throw away on your initial bet that has no multipliers but the machines I saw at Trump Plaza wouldn't allow it. If you made a half bet it erased the multipliers. Does'nt seem kosher to me.

I don't think you're right about this, Arc. Dancer undoubtedly has some hidden opportunities, but LV basically is a three-horse town with MGM, Caesars, and Boyd. I doubt Dancer has any "ins" at those properties. I think he has deteriorated into possibly getting show-up money, getting rebates, and relying on drawings for profit. I really do not think he's accomplishing much actually playing video poker.

Historically, Bob played a lot at SouthPoint, Palms and Stations casinos although he'll play anywhere he can find an advantage. I don't see any of those 3 horses around there. Since I never played at the denominations Bob plays and hence don't know the players, I really don't know what he has available these days.

I think the stuff he's reporting on at Palms and South Point is the bulk of what he'd doing there. Stations may be another matter -- they do have FPDW out at Red Rock, but only in denominations he wouldn't play. The better Palms machines don't qualify for the drawings and such. I really do think what he's reporting is what he's doing.

When he wrote about the Riviera promotion he admitted that the paytables were not up to snuff.

Interesting watching the apologists come out for Dancer when he writes these stupid columns about creating "positive plays" as justification for playing crazy games for unreasonable amounts of time.

"Secondary" positive plays with primary "secret plays"? C'Mon arci, why make stuff up when it comes to Dancer. He does a good job of that himself. He only writes these articles to brag about how much money he has to lose, without shame. Of course, to the trained eye it tells an entirely different set of facts.

Re: the Palms: This week I happened to talk to their casino manager via phone--Richard Strafella. He's a sort of friend within the industry I met when I wrote for Gaming Today. Alan may remember that it was he who I asked and got permission from for our interview in the high limit slots room at the Hard Rock. This call was to see if I could get an upgraded suite for two friends coming in from Calif. It worked, and they stayed in one of the 1500 sq. ft. suites like I used to get regularly.

In the call, Strafella asked me if I was playing for the car giveaways this month. So I knew a little bit about it before Bob's Column. I was told they expected every local high roller along with a good selection of out-of-towners to play the promo all month, and that so far reality had exceeded expectations. I then asked if he feared the pack of "AP's" who would undoubtedly flock in for it, and he said exactly what all these execs have always told me--they are COUNTING on it! That elicited a laugh from me, then him. In other words, they plan on making a bundle on this thing.

As usual when Dancer's name is mentioned the Singer envy raises it's ugly head. I wonder what it's like to live 20 years of your life trying to be someone else. Explain it to us Robbie.

I think Dancer has become part of the problem in that he is primarily a shill these days. He is basically publicizing a manner of play that will result in financial losses for virtually everyone who emulates him.

Funny lie, seeing that the forum argument you had with him ended up with him winning it in front of 10,000 others--a nerd's nightmare by the way--and poor old arci getting banned....and humiliated!

Guess that envy never tasted so good

Poor Robbie. Pretty obvious I hailed it. I mean who else would use a similar fake name and mention the guy endlessly for years. There is one big difference ... Dancer has been successful. That eats at Robbie constantly.

Another arrow straight thru arci's heart I KNEW referencing his permanent banning from vpFree would do the trick again!

    You "hailed" it alright. Hahahaha!!!

Here's a little distraction from wondering how someone can lose $20,000+ while chasing $15,000 in freeplay....and still claim "it was a good bet, and still is"!!

I don't know if anyone has wondered like I do, but I've been curious as to what the new World Trade Center was shaping up as. Well my daughter who travels four days a week for her job, was just in NYC and took this photo for me from her taxi. I'm sure the final product will be amazing, as will all the memorial information they put in and around the newly rebuilt site.

The other picture is of my daughter and two of her friends at a rollerskating rink. Can you tell which one it is? And arci, I saw where you recently wrote that she lives in the tundra up there. Bzzzzt--wrong again! They temporarily moved to Illinois up until Feb. 2012, when they went back to Phx. But---and hold your horses---because their jobs are based in Chicago and Minneapolis and she always works the 5th day from home, they are thinking of moving ROCHESTER, MN. right after New Years! You guys might be neighbors--imagine that! I'll try and steer them into your neighborhood; that way when we come to visit I can stop by to see the happy arci faces!! I might even bring over an old 6-pack of Gablingers I've kept for a special occasion.

I saw your daughters picture on Facebook and she is definitely a good looking gal. Just shows that some genes can skip a generation or two. I don't think she'll be a neighbor of mine. You need to be 55+.

BTW, the 2nd picture I provided of my wife is from our time in Vegas. It was only 5 years ago so she doesn't look much different today (just a little thinner). Now, compare that to what you have to face every day ... chuckle, chuckle.

Where in Illinois---I think I saw them playing one eyed jacks one night
