Thread: Rob Singer's Video poker tips and strategy

  1. #1
We are now carrying Rob Singer's video poker tips and strategy here on a new page called "Video Poker Strategy / Rob Singer." He is, by his own admission, the most controversial video poker and gambling author around. And if you have comments to make about his strategy and play and books and newspaper columns, please share them here and let's discuss it. Let's keep the conversation polite, in keeping with our forum rules.

I know that there are a lot of skeptics when it comes to Rob's Singer's Strategies. When I first discovered his web site i was also skeptical, but after a lot of reading and studying all the different strategies that he had developed i thought that he might just have developed a system that possibly had some merit. So i first decided to play some similitude vp games on the computer using one of his most successful strategies. It took a lot of practice when it came to implementing his special plays and breaking the old habits that i had when playing as an advantage player, but once i did the number's just kept adding up.

The next move for me was to take Rob's Strategies to the Casino's that i play in all over Louisiana and try them out.(I live in Texas) That was two years now and i have never looked back, using his strategies has made me a big winner, I now come home with some of the Casino's money instead of just leaving another deposit as all the advantage player do. Most of the time i reach my win goal in just a few hours, instead of pounding away at the machine for hours and hours on end. I don't even bother counting my comps, free play, gifts or cash back as part of my winnings anymore. I just consider all of that to be fluff or icing on the cake.

I consider Rob to be good friend of mine now days. The help that i received from him is priceless, he has always answered any questions that i have via email or phone. I even met Rob In Louisiana about a year and a half ago as he was passing thru on vacation with his wife. He took some of his time to meet, visit with me and sit down at the machines and go over some of his special plays... Rob never charges anyone a thing for any of his advice, that in it self just totally just blows this old man's my mind.

I'm looking forward to seeing the up coming Video's that Alan and Rob are going to be doing together soon.

If anyone wants to contact me please do and I will be more then glad to share some of my experiences using Rob Strategies.

Many thanks for posting here about your experience. We shot 34 video explanations about the "special plays" that we listed in the article on the page. Some of these are very interesting, where Rob explains that small wins don't help him do more than "tread water" while going for the small win and going for the small win might actually cost him a loss. He also explains why holding high cards might actually give him a better chance of making a win that holding various low card draws. We will be adding these video comments over the next week or so -- it all depends on our overall schedule for our TV show and other projects that we have. Some of the plays will remain controversial, but others will make more sense to the most critical skeptics.

Thanks and we appreciate the comments here.

Thank you for the update on the video's, looking forward to seeing them in the next few week. Might evn help this old dog out with a few special plays that I'm missing.

Most of the videos are now on our site. As of tonight, 26 out of 34 are posted. And for the "math guys" that's 76.47058% of them. Soon, we'll have all 34 online and that means we'll be at "full pay."

In the meantime, I am very happy to report that Rob's videos have been picked up by other websites and his videos have literally gone viral on the web.

A lot of people still dispute Rob's special plays and even I have my doubts about some of them while some make sense to me and a few are exactly what I would do.

But what is really important is that I am proud to have given Rob a place to show his special plays and to explain them -- in a video -- so everyone can see exactly what he is doing and why, instead of reading a lot of second-hand and third-hand accounts on sites that are hostile to him.

With that said, if you have a criticism, please post it here so you and others -- including Rob -- can discuss it.

I encourage discussion. Just keep it civil and polite following our rules.

    Many thanks, Alan

Hi. All 34 videos with Rob explaining his "special plays" for various video poker games are now on the site starting with this page: http://www.alanbestbuys.com/id194.html

We have also added a new video to the first page, and this video has a brief interview with Rob where I ask him to explain his overall strategy. You should start with that interview.

We welcome your comments here. Thanks, Alan

I, too, am a follower of Rob's strategies and have had good success with them, although I do alter to my personal way of playing. One such example is holding the A with another high card of the same suit. My reasoning is I can STILL hit 4 A's, STILL hit 4 whatever the other high card is, and, most importantly STILL hit the Royal. Thanks for the special plays, as I hit a Royal last week (on quarters) holding just the A.

I have been playing VP for almost 7 years now and over that time, I heard of Singer and his methods. Until joining this forum, I had never seen his stuff in action, so I thank you for the videos.

They have confirmed for me what an idiot he really is and why he has been banned from other VP forums.

I will continue to use advantage play as my 21 royals most definitely came about due to keeping those "break even plays" he detests. Those plays keep me in the seat longer and if I'm not in the seat, there's no way I'll ever hit a royal. His videos show no continuity in the thought process when he plays and it's obvious he's making things up as he goes along.

Hi Vegas Vic and thanks for joining. We appreciate your comments. I am hoping that Rob will respond. Some of his "special plays" actually increase the chance of hitting a royal, but I understand your point that by remaining in the seat for a longer period of time you can increase your chances of seeing more "royal hands" and this is indeed valid. But I am sure Rob will tell us that he also considers himself an "advantage player" but he sees his "advantage" differently from the others.

My only "problem" with "advantage play" is that most machines and most games still have a negative paytable. The "advantage" that most "advantage players" refer to comes from cash back and bounce back and other comps. There are only a few positive expectation games and what will the "advantage players" do when those positive expectation games no longer exist?

Negative expectation games that may end up a positive play shouldn't matter to anyone who follows Rob's style since he believes all VP games are unfair to begin with. Not only that, but he bases all his decisions on hoping that Lady Luck shines on him.

I believe in luck. When you are dealt four cards to a royal flush and you get the fifth card that makes the royal -- I call that good luck. But when you don't draw the card that gives you a royal -- says it's an offsuited deuce -- I call that bad luck. I also believe that outside of casinos that the harder I work the luckier I get.

As a critic you should know by now that it might be nice to give at least a partial explanation to what you're saying. Name-calling just detracts from that. I know you're envious of my results the past 12 years, and that you're uncomfortable knowing how comfortable I am.

Here's a flash vic: The longer you sit in that seat the more you will lose. And if you add in the ultimate addict play that Bob Dancer promotes by going up in denomination to take pot shots after hitting a jackpot at a lower denomination, you may have just found the perfect storm.

I've been playing recreational VP for less than 7 years (about 150 hours a year) and with 21 royals, I must be doing something right. I am not the least bit envious of someone who has been banned from several VP forums.
