For years we read about "The Captain" the famous craps shooter in Frank Scoblete's books and columns. Recently San Manuel Casino, a Native American casino near Los Angeles in the Inland Empire has been using a character called The Captain as part of its advertising campaign.

The Captain in the San Manuel radio commercials is a poker player at San Manuel -- a regular in their poker room.

Well, San Manuel is now showing us The Captain in their newest TV commercials. Watch carefully in the YouTube video of their commercial below. You will see The Captain getting a big poker hand pushed to him at a poker table.

Does this solve the mystery about who The Captain is and where he is now and what he looks like?

Is it just a coincidence or did some savvy marketing or advertising exec "borrow" the name "The Captain" to capitalize on the name "The Captain" from gambling lore?
