Thread: I Can't Lose For Winning These Days

  1. #1
If you remember, I said I wasn't going to play vp again until this month or later. The reason was because I ran into a bunch of hot machines a month or so ago (Spock, please check the exact number of days so you can claim I'm fibbing about this statement too ) and I was as hot as a pistol. But the apparent lack of a challenge bored me to tears at the end, and just the thought of sitting at a machine too soon turned my stomach.

But today I thought I'd give it a short try. I decided to drive to casinos that sent me some freeplay, and of course, because of my discipline never to play it thru more than once, I knew I'd make a few bucks for the effort. It was in the mid-70's today--the nicest day here so far--and Cindy was volunteering in the kitchen of a local nursing home, so off I went.

My first stop was $25 at the Carson Valley Inn. Not one, but two SF's on quarters BP. +$133. Then I zipped up Hwy. 50 to the Hyatt @ Incline Village to play my $50. No quads or anything special--and none of their single-line machines have BP on them--but I somehow still left with $36 playing 25c SDBP. I chose to save Casino Fandango for last, so I drove over to Reno to play my $45 at the Peppermill. Nothing special on this one, only got $21 out of it, but I did manage to snag a baker's dozen of yummy Einstein's Bagels on the way out of town, after a nice Imperial Stout at Great Basin Brewery. Then it was finally onto Fandango, where I'm very surprised they've kept sending me multiple free nights at the Marriott next door, which we always use of course, along with freeplay. Well, in my $80 of free play on 50c BP, I hit them Aces again along with 3's, and left with a nice $337 profit.

Anyone add it up yet, because I haven't. But one thing's for sure--I won't play again until May. And we're even spending a couple nights at the Peppermill in a few weeks with some friends from Mass.

Casinos typically give out free play at rates of around .5% of past play at best. Hence, $200 of free play would mean real play of $40K or more in the previous month or an average of that amount over multiple months.

Rob's biggest free play offer was $80 which by your 0.5% figure would mean that he put $16,000 coin-thru.

When I play 8/5 Aces and Faces at Rincon at the $2 level with as little as $500 my total coin in has sometimes been $25,000 in just about four hours or less. I know that to be a fact because when I was trying to reach 7Stars with my "low cost formula" I kept track and Total Rewards gives 1 TR point for each $10 of coin in. I played for 2500 TR points to get the 5,000 Bonus points and this is why I made 7 Stars on March 8th of this year for another full year.

But I think you are trying to somehow prove that Rob plays more than he claims to play. So I will suggest this: some casinos will offer small "base levels" of free play just to get "former players" back. My wife hasn't been back to Caesars Palace in about a year and has a standing "free play" offer of $500 if she ever walks in the door. She hasn't been to Rincon in about a year, and she has a standing offer of $50 if she walks in the door.

In other words, what are you trying to say Arc???

What you said. Casinos are not in the habit of giving away money for no reason at all. Certainly not multiple casinos in the same month. I get around $600 of free play each month and my coin-in is right around $120K each month.

Ha! More jealousy from the guy who can hardly get out. I understand....I really do!

Anyone who occasionally plays at the Peppermill knows they are very liberal with their room & freeplay offers, and they'll keep on sending them out for 6-8 months if you don't use one or two. Then there's the Hyatt and that HUGE amount they gave me for the QUARTER. And that big amount from CVI? Lol. So now we're down to $80 from Fandango, where I put in most of my play in last month's hot run that rattled my critics with, esp., that $8000 win on the $10 machine To me these amounts were all chump change compared to what I used to see. And Alan, you're exactly right about casinos reeling in past good players with freeplay. When I first went up to the Hyatt when we got here I put in some good $2 play. That was months ago, and this freeplay was the first I've heard from them aside from room offers.
