Interesting tidbits you pick up from time to time. In the lawsuit between the dealers at Wynn and the company over tip pooling we find out that the dealers make about $90,000 a year from salary and tips.

It was over $100,000 per year at Wynn and Bellagio during the boom years of the mid-2000s.

When I found out about this, I stopped tipping dealers. I felt they were already making enough for a relatively unskilled job.

I also have had a policy never to tip dealers who are rude and/or pressure for tips, but now I don't tip any because they are already making so much money.

Most people tip dealers either out of superstition or out of sympathy (thinking that the dealers are making minimum wage and barely able to pay their rent).

I once had a really obnoxious dealer at Bellagio who made a nasty comment when I won a big blackjack hand.

I had $600 riding 7 ways (through splits and doubles) and won the entire hand for $4200 (my single biggest 1-hand blackjack win ever).

A guy at my table said, "Wow! You had better tip the dealer well on this one!"

Before I could say or do anything, the dealer snapped, "Yeah, he SHOULD, but I don't know if he's going to."

After hearing that, I left zero.

There was a dealer in Reno who was badgering the table for tips really hard but He was really funny, self- deprecating and almost good hearted about it. Of course everybody was winning (I don't tip unless I win) so I tipped generously and we all had a blast!

I think the "wage" of a Vegas dealer is about $8 an hour... that's $320 for a 40-hour week.

If they make $90,000 a year, that's about $1730 a week, so it appears to me that much of their income is from tips.
