New from the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors -- a website to allow consumers to search for homes. Here is the link:

Of course there is nothing new about websites for home searches and some realtors already have online search functions on their sites.

I did a test search for a "condo, any number of rooms, any number of baths, minimum price $60,000 and maximum price of $180,000" and the site delivered several listings which include photos, additional data that would show up on an MLS listing and the realtor's name and the listing agent which you would expect to see.

There are also competing website which offer the same information plus a competitive edge. For example www.fsrefund.com allows consumers to shop for a home and be hooked up with a full service realtor who will also share part of his commission if the purchase is made.

The GLVAR also issued a press release:

The Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS® (GLVAR) has launched
HomeLasVegas.com, a new website enabling consumers to access information about Southern Nevada and its housing market and to search for local homes, REALTORS® and more.

“This new website has been in the works for many months, and we think it will be a great resource for people from around the world who are seeking information or considering buying a home here in the Las Vegas area,” said GLVAR President Dave Tina, a longtime local REALTOR®. “Most of today’s home buyers go online to look for a home. We designed this website to be a resource for buyers, and another platform for home sellers using a REALTOR® to market their properties. We want this site
to be a leading source offering the most accurate, timely and complete information on local homes available for sale on our Multiple Listing Service.”

Tina said visitors to the new website will also find all sorts of information about the local housing market, including a schedule of open houses, along with news, photos, videos, statistics and issues that are important to REALTORS® and the public.
Like all good websites, Tina added that GLVAR will continue to expand upon
HomeLasVegas.com, soon offering more information about commercial real estate and related issues.
