Thread: black jack bonus poker

Was at the horseshoe in Hammond Indiana. The high limit room for VP was closed for remodel. I asked a host why they didn't move the higher denom machines until the remodel was completed. Seems state law would require 5 days for gaming board approval just to move the games and whatever time for gaming board tio come out and bless the move. So was stuck with 25 cent games or poor paying dollar games. Then I stumbled onto a game I have never seen.

Please advise re the ER on this game. Thanks.

    Royal- 4,000
Aces and a black jack 4,000
    2's, 3's, 4's and a black jack 2,000
other quads and a black jack 800
    4 aces or 4 jacks 800
    2's 3's 4's 400
    str flush 250
    other quads 125
    full house 45
    flush 30
    str 20
    trips 15
    2 pair 5
    high pair 5

Looks like a variation of triple double bonus, but maybe a bit higher because you would hold a jack on its own while you wouldn't hold a kicker on its own.

The fullpay 9/7 version is 99.44% which would mean this was around 98.1%. The strategy is also quite complex due to the asymmetry.

Throw in a hundy and see what happens. Perfect strategy or not, your playing for a lucky one time hit.

I like "big hit" games like that when I can find them at quarters.

I played it for a little while today for 25--50--1.00. Those are the denoms. Was not 100% sure on strategy at certain times. For example--3 deuces and a black jack and a 6. Keep the Jack or not. Also--2 deuces with a Black jack x-x. Do you keep it. How about 3 faces, 1 of which is a jack. Anyway--got a lot of play for my $100 but no big hits of any kind.

I have no idea what to hold in a game like that. I would only play it for those lower denoms too like you did and Alan would...if I had some time to kill. It's one of the MANY gimmick games that have been created by the manufacturers in the past 10 years or so at the casino industry's request, because they're all too confusing and far too volatile to be in anyone's strategy.

I'm going to guess that like with TDB the correct play would be the three deuces with the Jack and 6 that you would hold the three deuces with the jack. I would guess that the Rob Singer special play would be to hold the three deuces.

Rob is right. High variance, just like TDB and Royal Aces Bonus. But Rob, you have a strategy for TDB and your strategy would also apply to this game. And as I mentioned before since you automatically hold Jacks (like you hold deuces in DW games) this game is probably better than TDB.

That's probably right, as is your belief that I would always hold just the 3 deuces. I'd want the 400 credits first and foremost, and there is one other black Jack in the deck too.

It wasn't around when I developed my strategy, and because optimal play--and therefore, creating the special plays for the game--would be very difficult to remember along with the normal games, I doubt very much whether it would have made the cut.

I've never seen the game, myself. I played 25-cent Royal Aces Bonus recently and hit quad aces for a thousand.
Again, another time when I had $40 in the machine just to kill time.

How did you win on another negative game??

BJ bonus has been around for a long time. They had a couple of banks of fullpay at Sam's near my super OEJs. I developed a strategy for the game since none of the software programs could handle it. I used to play it (rarely) with my freeplay for a little variety. And, yes, you keep the blackjack with any 3oak due to the huge increase when the blackjack is the kicker.

I doubt I'll play it again, but just out of curiosity Arci, what about 2 deuces and a black jack or 2 aces with a black jack. Do you keep the jack?

My guess is "no." The jack is a kicker, not a wild card.
