Thread: Why Is Arci Looking For A Way Out?

  1. #1
We've all witnessed this: arci challenged me to have a 3rd party (Alan) examine (then post redacted copies of) BOTH of our tax returns, then he quickly hinted at how I would shy away from doing it.

While I had no knowledge that the IRS could send our returns to an identified 3rd party before this, I thought about it, then decided it would be a good idea for two reasons: first, it they would give even more support to my winning around $90k/year net directly from the machines; and secondly, because we could all see how arci spins the results of his play, which while really insignificant compared to what I've done as a pro, would embarrass the heck out of him--something deemed absolutely DEVASTATING to any geek any where.

In addition, how many times have we seen arci lie about where I actually lived in Phx.? Yes I know, you're sick of it. So I offer a side bet of $5k that he'd be left helpless and eating his words upon seeing my address on my tax returns....so what does he do? Yes, he runs and hides, then comes out with a plethora of excuses on why he won't bet. Typical liar being caught between a rock and a hard place.

Fast forward 2 days. I asked for and received Alan's mailing address yesterday, I already have his phone # which is required on the IRS request form, and I mailed it in last night. And what's arci doing? Well, when he takes his dreaded peaks at the forum, he's trying to get Alan to talk him out of doing it. Now, he's trying to make it appear the "non-disclosure agreement" is a sticking point of some kind, when I've said I don't even REQUIRE one! Why? I joust with Alan at times here, but I trust him. And arci should too. What's he afraid of--his medical deductions going public?

So stop stalling and live up to your challenge. There's no money involved (other than the filing fee) now that you can't stomach putting your money where your mouth is. Or is the nerd in you making you squirm again...

And while I joust with Rob here, as well, I also trust him and he can trust that I will also do the right thing. Does this mean the tax returns are being sent to me?

Yes they are. I will also be somewhere not too far from LV 3 months from now, so I''ll bring my audit report with and we can look at how I did all the expenses. Plus I owe you that lunch.

While arci is trying to make Alan run in circles with his dumb NDA form, it's PURE ENTERTAINMENT watching him have buyer's remorse on this one!

I wonder why....could it be arci's more afraid of seeing that I've always won, or my home addresses?

    THIS WILL BE FUN! ROTFLMFAO!!!

Rob, I deleted your other post attacking Arc. There is no reason to do this. And I want these attacks to stop. No one is obligated to take part in anything here. If for any reason Arc does not want to make his tax forms public that is OK with me. He is not obligated to and it doesn't mean anything if he doesn't want to.

Should he decide to then I am making the same offer to him that I made to you: I will not release ANY info from the tax forms until each of you confirm that info can be released.

Frankly, I don't really want to do this. I only am doing it as a way to confirm that the info came directly from the IRS. And that's the only thing that can be confirmed.

Alan, as a final input on this until we get movement if that's even possible: I don't mind what you deleted. Everyone can see what arci's doing....actually, again. I gave him an out when I said he can choose his own years to request for himself. He instead tries to turn that into a reason for not following thru on his own challenge, when he already knows which years I've requested from the IRS. I picked '01 thru '07 because they're the 7 years smack dab in the middle of my schedule C-filing professional playing years. Perfectly sensible. And why would he demand to see years where I did not play professionally anyway? As with most things with him, it makes no sense.

I don't have a problem with him shying away from the side bet either--which one would have to believe he'd readily JUMP on given his continuous lying about it. But it will embarrass him sufficiently when the tax forms are posted....oh what will he say when he sees it? Yup, you got it. He'll say we were in cahoots over this whole thing, and you & I conspired to produce false information.

Finally, you say you really don't want to do this and it's up to arci if he wants to go thru with it or not. But do you remember who PROPOSED it? Do you remember him claiming I would not do it? So now that I have, where does that leave him? He's lost and confused, he never really wanted to do it anyway, so he has no choice but to create excuses and more excuses for not going thru with his own challenge. PAR FOR THE COURSE FOR HIS HISTORY WITH ME.

I hope he does it but he won't. Even though it will look to all that his bluff got called by a smarter player, there's absolutely no way he'll allow anyone to see how he never did do what he claims he as an "AP" did by really losing every year. I gave away the gig when I told him I've already seen some of his returns. Now his only goal is to make sure those returns never go public. Thus, the runaround with the NDA, and the non-issue "issue" about which years to ask for. It's really no way out for him, and it is a good lesson in what happens when a geek sticks his foot into his mouth.

Either way, my returns are the only important ones here, and you will receive them . Only thing left is knowing arci will be crying CONSPIRACY! after he sees them posted.

I have a bad feeling this is where someone winds up with an earful of cider.

It was obvious that Singer jumped up and picked certain years without even a chance for discussion that he is trying to control the information. There can only be one reason why anyone would want to do this. He doesn't want the later years disclosed.

Now, why would that be? The most logical reason is he did not win those years. This fits well into the process that happens with many gamblers. They get lucky. They translate this luck into a theory that they have found the secret to winning. At some point in time the luck stops and reality sets in. That is why you hear so many claims that casinos are cheating.

However, with Singer, he has made public claims that do not allow him to admit his original wins were nothing but luck. So, he invents some additional wins and then conveniently announces his retirement. Let's face it, if anyone was really winning a $100K a year from casinos based on only a small amount of play, why would they stop? The amount Singer played would not have prevented him from enjoying whatever lifestyle he chose. Clearly, it was invented when he realized his system was worthless after amassing some big losses.

    Observations from The Jungle:

    1) Arci is a fine video poker player.
    2) Rob is a professional gambler, or was, and that entails controlling context and people.

Rob has framed this entire conversation from the beginning. He has a "failed AP" history, a professional Singer strategy history, and a retired history. He has always framed these as separate chunks as part of the mythology of Rob Singer. When challenged, his story holds water because it's designed to hold water. Criticizing him for losses incurred "after retirement" isn't going to dent the mythology. From a logical perspective, it makes as much sense as criticizing him for losses during his "failed AP" stage.

Let's face it -- it should all be one data pool. Anyone with any sense realizes that. But Rob has circumvented it. Rob's genius lies in his construction of this airtight mythical and brilliantly compartmentalized personal history that I'm reasonably sure will be supported by any "evidence" he puts forth. In this situation, I would bet on Rob.

This is why one never takes the Jack-of-Spades-Spitting-Cider bet. Rob's mythology is tough to crack. It should be -- he wrote it.

Rob did not "retire" until 2010. That means both 2008 and 2009 are "pro" years. Pretty obvious why he doesn't want to release those years.
