Thread: Betting for the Dealers in Craps

  1. #1
I enjoy craps! I really enjoy a hot table with everyone on the table, including the dealers and suits focused and into the game.

On my recent trip, I enjoyed a great hand where the entire table was completely focused on the game. A 6 & 8 $12 each for the dealer (player control although the dealer controlled the pressing) ended with dealer 8 at $600 and me at $1800. Everyone on the table thoroughly enjoyed themselves and although not epic at around 45 minutes it was a great hand! The dealer was so into the roll and his bets that he did not want to leave for his break.

Does anyone else have a "Bet for the Dealers" that capture their interest and forces them to focus on the game?

I am a believer that if everyone (all players, dealers, suits) on the table focuses hard on making the point, a positive outcome can be achieved, Many times, dealers are chit chatting about football, or the fight and not paying close attention. I find that a bet such as a 6/8 bet that stays up, gets their attention.

Any stories, bets or comment are wanted.

Usually, I make a passline bet for the dealers when I am shooting and I have already made one pass. There were a few times over the last ten years or so when I had a hot roll and I actually placed the numbers across for the dealers ($52 or $54) with "player control" and the dealers took the wins. I recall one time when the base dealer pressed the dealer bets.

But the story you tell with a $12 dealer bet pressing up to $600 and your own bet reaching $1800 tells me it was an amazing roll -- and in just 45 minutes? Wow.

45 minutes is my guess. Its funny how casinos, gambling, hot rolls, alcohol etc affect one's perception of time!

I have never seen a dealer not want to go on his break before! He had all the numbers covered and his fellow dealers were all watching "their" bets. That purple $500 + black $100 on the dealer 8 was something I've haven't seen before.

The atmosphere at the table was electric! Her 4th point (Fire Bet!) was a 10 which she nailed the hardway! The table literally erupted with genuine joy! God I love that game!

Anyway, I would love for others to share their "bets for the dealers" story and if it affected the game!

I hate dealer BANTER! Once that chit-chat begins I am out of there. I have no problem talking to dealers while I'm playing, but when they talk to each other about their shitty job or gf that really irks me for some reason.

As far as tipping goes, I have really toned that aspect of my game down. I will usually tip on the futures bets (FireBet, ATS) and maybe a two way hard way. I didn't it before but tipping cuts into your profits (or it was for me).

BANTER! Great word. Much better than chit-chat. sometimes I feel like telling them to pay attention!

Dealers enjoy a Firebet and Parlayed Hardway bets for them. I once watched this older dealer who, whenever he was on stick, would take small dealer tips $1 or $3 and play the hardways without anyone's consent. Nobody complained so he continued to do it everytime!

The thing I dislike more than the BANTER is arguments between players and dealers about minuscule payout/bets. Sometimes these disagreements last a while and when the game finally resumes...7 out line away!

    Still love the game!

If this happened at Caesars... was the dealer who didn't want to go on his break James? One of the original dealers from when Caesars opened in 1966? I saw him do that one time during a hot roll. A new dealer came to replace him and he asked that he stay on for the duration of the hand. James would do that.

Alan; The good roll occurred at Paris and the dealer was Yuli.

Paris dealers told me about a 2+ hour roll on Friday. An epic roll which made all 6 numbers twice! Nobody pressing and after two hours the biggest bet was $180 6 & 8. Biggest cashout was a mere $18,000 and that included his $10,000 Fire Bet! OMG, If only I had been there!

Your most recent trip was this weekend? Or longer?

Don't worry, you'll catch your epic roll one time in your career. Two hours is a helluva roll, longest I've been on was maybe an hour. Cashed out 5,000+ at Ballys.

My biggest win was at Caesars, I hit a 6pointer and cashed out 13,000 with my FireBet (7500 after taxes, not 10,000). Less than a 30 minute roll (only one stick change and full table).

    I love craps stories!

I have never been on a roll longer than 50 minutes. I have told the story of a guy who had a monster roll and when it was over I asked the dealer and other players on my side how long they thought it was? Estimates ranged up to 25 minutes. But it was ELEVEN. Unless you purposefully time a roll everyone loses all references to real time.
