This was interesting -- Calamari that was cut to form steaks. Instead of the traditional Calamari rings, these Calamari steaks are battered and fried.

I had to ask the Chef how to get Calamari steaks and he told me that instead of cutting rings, the cut is made to create long sections which become steak patties.

This was at the 24 hour Cafe at Harrah's Rincon Casino in San Diego County and it was on the late night menu.

Very tasty, though the marinara sauce it was served with was not my favorite. I would have preferred a traditional shrimp-style cocktail sauce.

What's great about many casino 24-hour restaurants is that the food is good, with large portions, and low prices and that's what I find at Rincon's 24-hour cafe. I love their New England Clam Chowder but it was sold out at 2-AM. A photo of the Calamari steak serving/presentation is below:
