Thread: Harrah's Rincon is installing new video poker machines

Harrah's Rincon is installing new video poker machines. These appear to be the newest "Game King" machines and you can choose from multiple games. About a half dozen of these new game consoles were installed Monday night in the video poker "room" at Rincon.

It's an interesting cabinet and console and is clearly with a modern design. I am happy to report that the bill acceptors worked perfectly, as did the device for reading the player's card. The screen is also large and bright and the graphics are clear. The only problem I had with the device was that the buttons were a little hard to push -- but maybe that will keep you from making errors. The photo below shows the new game console.

There are some new games on the machine I played including Triple Double Bonus but it did not have a good pay table.

I was interested in the pay table for Aces and Faces because it is drastically different from the traditional pay table which is an 8/5 game (8 coins for a full house, 5 coins for a flush) and returns about 99.2 percent.

Look at the photo below for the paytable on this version of $1 Aces and Faces: a full house pays 10 coins, a flush pays 8 coins, and a straight pays 6 coins -- not the 4 on a traditional Aces and Faces game.

At first blush this looks like a rich game, but in reality it pays about 96% and far less than the standard Aces and Faces game that pays 99.2 percent and the reason is that you get even money for two pair instead of getting double your bet.

I hope this doesn't mean that Rincon will be getting rid of the other Aces and Faces games with the older but better video poker pays.

Some of the new video poker machines are now in the "non smoking" area of the main casino floor.

I am hearing from other players about more of the "new machines" being installed in the video poker room and in the non-smoking section and all of the paytables of the previous
"full pay" games are now reduced. On the new machines you will not find the full pay versions of Bonus Poker or Aces and Faces which are still available on some of the older machines. Several players have told me that if the older machines are replaced with newer machines with the lesser paytables they will have no reason to continue playing at Rincon and will switch to Pala and Pechanga which continue to have full pay Bonus poker. I am not sure if they have Aces and Faces, however. Pechanga, the last time I checked, still had 9/6 Jacks or Better which disappeared from Rincon. At Rincon now the best Jacks or Better pay table is 8/5.
