Thread: Valley View Casino

So after much concertation(see this thread http://vegascasinotalk.com/forum/showth...-25-cent-level), I finally made it down to the Valley View Casino. Here is a quick recap.

So yesterday morning waited at the appointed stop for the Valley View bus. I saw a group of people so made it easy to know where to wait. Bus was scheduled to show up at 9:05. It was there at about 8:55 or so. When I got on the bus I noticed most of the seats were only occupied by one person but they would put their bag there to make sure no one sat next to them. Fair enough, I'm not a big fan of strangers plopping down next to me so I can understand. However one lady saw me coming and went into this fetal position type thing like she was shying away from a monster hoping not to be noticed. Got a chuckle out of that. So the good news is there was a seat available. The bad news is it was the very back one next to the toilet. I was also with my friend and neither of us is a small person. By the end of the trip I was in a cold sweat ready to puke at the slightest nudge due to the cramped space, lack of circulation and the odors coming from the restroom. Thankfully it rained yesterday so the cloud cover blocked out the sun for most of the ride. The sun probably would have sent me over the edge because of course the very back seats are the only ones on the whole bus with no pull down shades.

Thankfully I made it off without projectile vomiting and was able to meet the head of the bus line. He went and set everything up for me so I didn't have to wait in a 30 min line to get my players card and vouchers. I then went over to the buffet where the manager let me in about 15 mins early. That was nice of him. This is their famous Lobster Buffet but since I came on a weekday at 11, the lobster wasn't out yet. The buffet won't blow you away but it was solid, and hey it was free. The workers there are nice and they will try to honor special requests. Like one of the workers brought me oyster crackers for my clam chowder.

The casino was a little confusing but not too bad. I mean it's no Pechanga so you can pretty much cover every place in about 15 mins. They had a ton of penny slots. Some of them are the fake penny slots where you have to play like 30-60 credits per spin but there was some low ones as well. I played some 7 multiplier game to kill time since they gave me 15 dollars in moreplay. Did a big 200 credit bet at the end that didn't work out but still cleared 8 bucks or so. Pennies have the worst odds so wasn't hoping for much. Didn't see any cocktail waitresses the whole time sitting down. Probably because they don't serve alcohol, they aren't as in demand as Vegas. Instead they have self serve soda machines around like most of the other SoCal casinos. The video poker section was packed. There is a game on vpfree2 called NSUD that I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. I looked around for it there but didn't see it.

Valley View boasts the largest non-smoking section in Socal according to signs posted everywhere and it did seem pretty big. I liked to walk back and forth in the entrance because there was a very strong blower that would keep the smoke out of the section and it felt good, especially if you work up a sweat walking around.

There were a few tables open with BJ and 3 card poker going. When I sat down to play a penny slot, some workers decided that was a good time to work on a table so I heard loud machinery the whole time.

Besides the buffet they had some snack bar type places. Me and my friend had 20 dollars in non-buffet dining credit. We used i at a place called Snax/Stix which is a combo place that serves regular snack bar type food and also Pho and other Asian dishes. Got 2 chili cheese dogs which were huge and smothered in chili and nacho cheese sauce. My friend got the Turkey BLT wrap and said it was good. They didn't make a big deal about taking it to go because after the buffet, there was no way we were gong to be able to eat it until we got home.

Of course the driver said for everyone to keep their same seats so had another great ride back next to the toilet and this time had to go back in rush hour traffic. Thankfully didn't puke.

Overall it wasn't a bad experience other than the terrible bus rides. My biggest complaint about VV is there is no printed material for anything. Want to know how many points you need for the next level of player's club? Want a map or details about the hotel? Want to know about the Native American tribe that owns the casino? Want to know anything about anything? Well tough because every answer is just "look at the website". For the record the website doesn't have that much info either.

I would say go at least once for the free buffet if you are in the area. If it sucks you are a short drive away from Harrahs, Syucan, Pala, and Pauma. Also if you are a non smoker you will probably have a more favorable opinion just because they give so much gaming space to accommodate non-smoking players.
