Thread: Great Gift Wrap Up Questions

  1. #1
Does any one know what the exchange rate is for free play using Great Gift Wrap Up points? I can't find anything on the website.

I would like to know too. Last year I found it in the sevenstarsinsider but I don't think it was until the November issue.

I seem to recall it was at the rate of $100 per 31,500 Great Gift points last year.

Remember that you can trade points with people. As long as you are both present, just go up to the checkout booth and say you want to transfer.

So it appears that the exchange rate will be similar to gas cards. So the question becomes: what is a better choice for you -- gas cards or free play?

I just looked back at my order confirmation from GGWU 2012. I used 30K points for $100 reel rewards. Did that twice so it was $60K. Also before I left used 15K for $50 reel rewards. I got several restaurant gift cards last year like Outback and Red Lobster but I noticed that they are not offered this year. The ones that are offered are not located close to me.

We will be going to the December event. Haven't played as much in Vegas this year so only have a little over 140K GGWU points.

I am disappointed by the gift card selection this year. I got some of the restaurant cards in years past as gifts. But this year it looks like its going to be all Shell gas cards.

Maybe you're right about 30k for $100. I thought it was 31500, but maybe that was the price of $100 in gas cards.

To be honest, I think Outback and Red Lobster suck, so I am much happier to take the Shell gas cards.

If the exchange rate for the gas cards and the freeplay are identical, I will probably take half of each. Both have a drawback.

The Shell gas cards have a drawback because you have to use them at Shell stations, and many Shell stations are overpriced. They are also a pain in the ass to carry around.

The freeplay has a drawback in that you are more likely to lose with it than win, meaning $300 freeplay will yield less than $300 on average.

Does anyone know if they are doing iPads again this year?

I just discoverd Sunday night that there has been a glitch in one of the promotions for bonus GGWU points. Harrah's Rincon has been awarding bonus GGWU points if you simply swipe your card at a special kiosk on Fridays and Sundays during October and the points are supposed to be credited to your GGWU account soon. But if you also play and earn a certain number of tier points you get a bonus.

In my case I get 31,500 GGWU bonus points just for showing up, and if I play 2,100 tier points I get another 20,000 or so bonus points.

Sunday night, when I asked if the bonus points were being credited properly because of my recent big play, I was told that the bonus points were not credited. The TR rep said there is an error and a "manual override" will have to be made on my account.

I think anyone who has participated in a GGWU bonus event should double check that they recieved -- or will receive -- the appropriate bonus credits.

$300 of real money coming out of your own pocket and bet will most likely yield less than $300 too. So, the #1 reason to convert your points to free play instead of to another "gift" is if that "free play" will substitute for actual betting money coming from your own pocket.

One question you should ask is this: If I convert to free play coupons, how long are the free play coupons valid for? And, what casinos are they valid at? If the coupons are valid for one year or at other Caesars/TotalRewards casinos the free play option might get a boost.
