Thread: Harrah's Laughlin murders video poker

Not that it was wonderful in the first place, but there were at least some 9-6 JoB machines of the 25c/50c variety, and 8-5 Bonus in the high limit room.

    All of that is gone.

    Here are some reports:

    Ugggggggghhhhh

If you want to tolerate smoking, you can play 4-4 Deuces Wild, but they max out at $1/credit.

There are also 50-play bonus deuces wild for 10c in the non-smoking which I guess is the best option. Looks like 50-play deuces wild is effectively the same thing as $5, except you're playing 50 small hands at a time instead of one big one.

    Still pretty terrible.

They replaced all the machines with those crappy new ones.

And despite that, if you're going to play video poker for tier credits in southern Nevada, that's still your best bet.

The 4-4 Deuces Wild is 98.9% return.

No other game in Vegas (at Caesar's properties) is that high, aside from the ones that are set to $25 per tier credit (which I will never play unless I am just running freeplay.)

Harrah's has always operated as if offering the lousiest games will project to making them the most money. There's just one problem with this theory -- they are losing money by the boatload quarter after quarter.

Their response? Make the games even worse.

You gotta love corporate America. If you're too big to fail, you can manage both spectacular underachieving, being dumb as a rock, and arrogance all at the same time.

Loveman made $12,800,000 last year. And that's just salary--doesn't include stock options and all the other stuff. Think he cares about the slot payoffs or the customers?

Complaining about PAYTABLES at Harrahs Laughlin? If people weren't so overly addicted to CET's slot card program and didn't feel the way CET WANTS them to feel....as in "oh so special"....they'd be smart enough to gamble more intelligently at any of several other casinos on Casino Drive. Why people have the need to pretend CET is the only property to play at in the country can only be explained as weak and amateurish.

Rob, if you ever laid off your "addiction theme" you might be viewed as having something important to say. If you simply said, there are better video poker opportunities at non-CET properties people might actually respect you.

The reality is that there are a lot of other, better places to play video poker. At Caesars Palace there is no reason for me to play video poker there anymore. Full pay Bonus is only available at $5 and higher and while I play $5 games, it's now $25 per tier credit making it pointless to play there. Instead I will play VP at Rincon where 8/5 Bonus, ACE$ Bonus, and Aces and Faces still exist at normal tier credit values even at twenty five cents per coin.

The only game for me to play now at Caesars happens to be craps -- still the best craps pit in the business. Unfortunately, it's an expensive craps pit. I was discussing New Year's with friends and explained that I probably won't be playing VP or craps at Caesars over New Years. I've already explained why playing VP at Caesars Palace doesn't make sense, and I probably won't be playing craps there if they raise the table minimums to $50 and $100 which is what they did before on New Year's. I just might walk across the street to play at Flamingo, Ballys and Paris where there are $10 tables or sometimes $5 tables. Paris, by the way, has very nice tables.

Bellagio also has nice tables, often at $10, but I've had my "problems" at Bellagio over (get this, Rob) being an "advantage player."

All more of your BS Alan. First, you don't like the "addiction" theme because it's uncomfortable and It hits too close to home. Throughout the ages, people who know they're addicted to something being discussed regularly diss it as being "irrelevant" while, of course, trying desperately to pretend the subject was never brought before their ears or eyes.

Next....you have not and will not stop playing vp at Caesar's, because if you did then you would forego any of their free play or other rope'em in offers. You're display of weakness is no different than the sick smoker who proclaims "I'll quit smoking tomorrow" when they know full well that stopping right now TODAY is the only way he'll ever really stop. Instead, with sweaty palms, you feel the unending need to come on here and toot about coupons, specials, etc. to the point of even needing to start up threads about it. Anxiety gone wild. Along with not paying attention to your own claims. And to make matters worse, you just HAVE to explain tier points this and credits that. Do yourself a favor and finally do something you said you were going to do.
