Thread: Harrah's Rincon info

  1. #1
    Hey guys!!

I am thinking about going to Harrah's Rincon for a 7 star retreat or just a trip. Never been there. I go to Tahoe about 5 times a year and have been to San Diego area for vacation several times - went to the Zoo - Wine area - Sea world etc.

I have quite a few questions that I hope some of you could answer for me if I decide to do a 7 star trip there:

    1. Would I fly into San Diego?

    2. How far is the casino from the airport?

    3. I guess a limo would pick us up - but if we decided to do a rental car instead - would they reimburse?

    4. If not - is there a rental car facility at the casino/resort?

    5. What are some not miss things nearby? - we like hiking - views? etc.

    6. Have heard this an Indian casino - not really familiar with one. Does this mean that we will not get comp alcoholic drinks when playing? If so - can you charge to room or take off your TR points?

    7. Diamond Lounge -- Is it like Vegas or Tahoe where they only serve food from 4-6pm and then only wings etc.? Also can you get comp drinks (beer/wine etc) in the Diamond Lounge? -- Also what are the hours?

    8. Any special perks for 7 stars? --ie: At Tahoe- free ski lift tickets, New Orleans - comp horse/buggy ride - and heard of some places having 2 free buffets daily.

    9. Do you get unlimited free media in your room?

    10. How is the buffet? -Love crab legs - do they have them each night or only on special nights?

    11. Any insights on the other restaurants?

    12. Which tower is the best for room/suites?

    13. Looked at the CET website and see no concerts - Do they ever have musical concerts there?

    14. Heard they have 3 pools there and hot tubs - As a seven star do I get unlimited access to the pool area?

15--- Any other info would be so appreciated--

Yes, though flying into Orange County isn't all that much different.

    2. How far is the casino from the airport?
    I believe about 50 miles.

    3. I guess a limo would pick us up - but if we decided to do a rental car instead - would they reimburse?
No limo because of the distance. They will give you $200 for a rental car. I'm not sure if they book the car for you, or just give you $200 in some other way. Ask your host about this.

    4. If not - is there a rental car facility at the casino/resort?
Not a rental car facility at the casino. You would have to rent it at the airport.

    5. What are some not miss things nearby? - we like hiking - views? etc.
Don't know the area that well, but there really isn't much around there (except a number of other casinos). The allure of the area is the (relative) proximity to Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego, but none are too close.

    6. Have heard this an Indian casino - not really familiar with one. Does this mean that we will not get comp alcoholic drinks when playing? If so - can you charge to room or take off your TR points?
That's correct. However, I have not ordered alcohol while there, so I don't know how you do it.

    7. Diamond Lounge -- Is it like Vegas or Tahoe where they only serve food from 4-6pm and then only wings etc.? Also can you get comp drinks (beer/wine etc) in the Diamond Lounge? -- Also what are the hours?
When I went in there at 6:30pm, there was no hot food except for some lousy egg rolls. I am not sure if the alcohol there is comped. I just used the soda machine and ate some fruit. Not sure of the hours food is served, but I think it's the whole time (just very limited).

    8. Any special perks for 7 stars? --ie: At Tahoe- free ski lift tickets, New Orleans - comp horse/buggy ride - and heard of some places having 2 free buffets daily.
No. You 2 free buffet entries per day, and some discounts at the restaurants.

    9. Do you get unlimited free media in your room?
No. You get $50 per day for all media, and you can't accumulate it. Remember that each device on the internet will be a separate $13 charge.

    10. How is the buffet? -Love crab legs - do they have them each night or only on special nights?
Not very good. I just ate it twice. Only had it because it was free. Extremely mediocre.

    11. Any insights on the other restaurants?
    Alan can help with this.

    12. Which tower is the best for room/suites?
Have only stayed in Garden Tower, which is the low-rise. The high rise is the Spa Tower. Supposedly Spa Tower is nicer but not as recently renovated. If you stay in the Garden Tower, ask for a room facing the pool, because the street can be noisy.

    13. Looked at the CET website and see no concerts - Do they ever have musical concerts there?
    Yes, but not very often.

    14. Heard they have 3 pools there and hot tubs - As a seven star do I get unlimited access to the pool area?
    Yes.

15--- Any other info would be so appreciated--
All Seven Stars get little 'gift bags'. Checkout is 1pm for Seven Stars, instead of 4pm in most other CET properties.

The best restaurant is Fiero which is the steak house and I've actually driven from LA to Rincon just for the steakhouse. The 24 hour cafe/restaurant is okay especially the clam chowder and the cheesecake. But to be honest Rincon is not exactly famous for its dining options. Even though it's "San Diego" in the winter months it can be very cold and very rainy. If you are interested in the pools go in the summer.

The other options you have are the Orange County theme parks... Disneyland, of course. Los Angeles is about 90 minutes to two hours away by car depending on traffic and that includes risking your life walking along Hollywood boulevard, and gawking along Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

Thanks for the info Dan and Alan. Though it seems nice, I don't think that I will do a 7 star trip there - it sounds too isolated. I think I will stay with Lake Tahoe.

Again, I do appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.

Unless you have some reason to travel to Los Angeles / Orange County / San Diego to see relatives or to see particular venues here such as Disneyland or to go to a ballgame, I would stick with Tahoe.

that reminds me... I won two seats in the Rincon box for the San Diego Chargers on December 8. Chargers vs Giants. I love football. I love when the quarterback hits a home run and the guards make a double play, and the ends catch the fly balls in deep left and deep right fields. Yes, football is my game.
