Thread: Another surprise from Bob Dancer.

I read the article and if you ignore the dollar amounts then the information is interesting. But by discussing the actual dollar amounts ($125 or $50, etc.) you get sidetracked and think this is rather petty stuff.

Had he been talking about $125,000 or $50,000 instead we might be saying "interesting."

The most interesting aspects of this, to me, are that Dancer prefers hooking up with and marrying people who have no clue as to what he's doing. His "job" is basically 24/7, yet he becomes intimate with people who have no expertise or even familiarity with what he does. It is very, very strange that he prefers people who would be fodder for his columns. Of course, it also suggests he doesn't want his mate(s) or their families to know much of anything about what he does. That's a red flag for any relationship, and a red flag for any financial partnership.

I am, however, stating the obvious.

My wife is clueless about what I do. She thinks that when I am at home and talking on the phone to clients, or writing scripts, or selling advertising to new clients that I am not working. She thinks I "work" only when I am out shooting a new video. She will say things to me like "are you shooting today?" And when I tell her "I am making sales calls" or "I am editing" or "I am visiting clients" or "I am farming prospects" she will quickly say "when do you work again?"

Thats not the same thing Alan. My wife knows exactly what I do and doesn't think I work. She's jealous that I do what I want to do on My terms. It's called self employment (risk) and I love it!

I think your wife would have a pretty good idea if your sales calls were successful or if your video was a mess. Dancer's mates, as he reports it, don't understand his decision-making or his overall mathematical strategy, which is really a life strategy/attitude as well as a vp strategy/attitude.

The rough equivalent would be you shooting videos and having blind/deaf wives. Nothing wrong with it, unless you chose them because they were blind/deaf.

I don't know if I should write this on an Internet forum... but here goes: SHE DOESN'T WATCH... and if one of my commercials comes on TV she changes the channel, fast.

I don't know how you can say "stating the obvious" if this above quote is your conclusion from the one and only paragraph that mentions her family:

"In financial terms, both Bonnie and I are reasonably comfortable. Although her relatives like me well enough, it scares them to death that she could actually be sharing her estate with a professional gambler who might need her to bail him out from bankruptcy. Although I feel that I'm at the top of my craft and believe that there is essentially a zero chance of me ever losing all of my assets, her relatives don't understand that. In their mind 'gambler' means 'loser in the long run."

No where can it be concluded that "he doesn't want them to know much about what he does". It rather appears that there has been discussion with her family about his profession because he mentions what their perception of a gambler is...a perception that can reasonably be reached by Dancer following a dialog with them. Rather than "stating the obvious", you are once again not only reaching for something that isn't there but patently making things up.

Dancer hooks up with people who don't understand what he does at all, then writes about it. That is not the way to conduct a healthy relationship with the woman or her family.

I wasn't saying Dancer was actively hiding anything. I was saying that he purposely chooses people who don't grasp the math and who then serve as topics for his columns. That is weird.

Maybe it is another form of control. Guess we would have to see how he would act if a hot math professor was into him.

That's exactly what my girlfriend said. I envy Dancer his range of opportunities for dating. He's in a social environment, casinos, most of the day. He meets hundreds of women in the casino and through his classes. When he's not working, he's involved in square dancing, line dancing, ballroom dancing -- and meeting dozens, if not hundreds, more eligible women. His whole day is basically a barracuda prowl if he wants it. He writes about people who can't make math decisions properly, but he doesn't choose one.

Darn... I go to casinos and I don't "meet" any women.

And yet your favorite VP at caesars is near the bathroom.

You know a lot of Bob Dancer LVA stuff is personally a little too self-aggrandizing and sometimes is more about Bob himself than good VP info but every month I get a Southern California Gamers Guide from the Ralphs and his columns aren't too bad in there. More about info and also a more conciliatory tone than the LVA stuff. You would almost forget it was written by Bob Dancer, until of course he tells you what Bob Dancer would do differently. Still not bad though. Here is the newest one:

Actually it's not. My favorite video poker machine is the only $5 video poker machine in the Palace Court high limits room. Unfortunately, it is not always available. And since it is the only $5 machine in there, I am not going to sit around waiting for the player to leave it... and I am certainly not playing the $100 single line machines to the right of it, nor the 50 line and 100 line machines.

The one I go to has moved it several times but i have found them near the lottery machines inside the store as well as outside the doors near the water machines. They might have it in other super market chains as well. If you can't find it there you can look at full issues online here:

Something fun to read right before I go to bed. Nice to see what the area casinos are up to. Well the SD area casinos. Not much is written about outside the area.

I bet they have an editor. An editor would be Dancer's best friend, whether he knows it or not.
