Thread: $100,000 Bad Beat Jackpot back at Bicycle Casino

  1. #1
The Bicycle Casino off the 710 Freeway in Bell Gardens, near downtown Los Angeles, has announced a return of its $100,000 bad beat jackpot in live poker for quads beaten by quads and both players have pocket pair hole cards. It happens. I was there one night when it happened when quad jacks beat quad tens -- and the player with quad tens walked away with the big money.

Ironically, the player with quad Jacks said to the player prior to the showdown "you have me beat." And when it came to award the Bad Beat Jackpot, the player with quad tens did have the player with quad jacks beat.

the $100,000 bad beat jackpot applies to higher limit tables. For lower limit tables the jackpot is $30,000.

    This isn't exciting news.

Jackpots are terrible for the player. They take and extra dollar in rake, and it really adds up. They don't return it 100% (or even close) through the jackpots.

Dan you're right about the "return" on the raked amount. I think the Bicycle keeps about half of the raked amount as an administrative fee. We discussed this before some time ago. You also have the option of opting out of the jackpots. I am not exactly sure how that is done when you are at the table, so you would have to ask.

The Bike just sent out another email to players on its email list about the $100,000 bad beat jackpot. I'm not sure if this is a change in the rules or not but the $100,000 jackpot is now only for weekdays, during odd hours, on higher limit games:

    Daily Hours
    Odd hours 11AM - 10PM Monday - Friday

    $100K Jackpot
Play any $4-$8 Limit Hold’em & above games to qualify!

    $30K Jackpot
    Play any $2-$4 Limit Hold’em & $40 Buy-In NLHE to qualify!

*Any Quads Beaten by Quads (Hole cards must be pocket pair)
