Thread: Pala Trip

  1. #1
Went to visit Pala after a several month break. Usually hit Valley View for our free buffet, then Harrah's to earn some Total Reward Tier Points in order to keep those offers coming. But had a $20 food coupon for my partners birthday so what the heck right?

Well I was playing slots, and doing pretty good. In fact, I was up about $300. I usually look for machines where the max bet is about $1.50-$2 and stick with real wheels instead of virtual. I was surprised when a casino host approached me, called me by name, and asked if I wanted to try to qualify for a slot tournament. It's free! Sure, why not?

We went over to this machine that was roped off. He logged into a computer and said I had 3 minutes to earn 80,000 credits. Well, that was super easy and I actually hit 130,00 credits. Too bad it wasn't for free money. I have to return on 1/4/14 to play, but not sure if I'll be able too.

I immediately called my partner and told him what happened. I assumed the system flagged me because I was betting pretty high, and also winning. Well, lo and behold, my partner also got called over to see if he could qualify about 45 minutes later! He's mister minimum bet and was pretty much losing. When he went to the machine, he noticed my name was still there as the last person who played. That tells me they aren't just constantly picking people to have them qualify as there was plenty of time for someone else to play. I'm wondering if they noticed we had the same address and figured we'd be more likely to come if we both qualified? The whole casino host/marketing/tracking play strategy to see what they can do to get us to return intrigues me. Since neither of us had been there in several months, I wonder if we were targeted?

We left about an hour after that to head to Valley View to play Spin and Win (can you say $5 Moreplay?).

Anyway, we both received $20 freeplay for our time attempting to qualify. And the game we played was fun. Is anyone else going to the invitational slot tournament on the 4th?

Thanks for posting. That's an interesting way to approach players for a slot tournament. Of course you have to return another time to play so they might have seen that you are an occasional player and may have wanted to give you an incentive to go back there.
