Thread: 2014 Plans for the X Train

The Las Vegas Railway Express, the company that wanted to have passenger train service between Southern Cal and Las Vegas, is now going ahead with plans for specialty rail car services on other train lines around the country. At least, that's what they claim they are doing.

Today, the company sent out an email to investors and other interested parties. I'm not a shareholder, so I guess I am an interested party.

In the email, they said they are going to be offering two types of specialty rail cars with services. Here is the except from their email:

This coming year we will announce two new unique luxury rail travel services which will be expanded to routes throughout the country during 2014. The two services are Casino Fun Trains which is an adaptation of our Las Vegas designs for use on other passenger routes which have a casino resort on the line. These include Oakland to Reno, Houston to New Orleans, Washington DC to the Greenbrier Hotel and Chicago to St. Louis. The other brand is our Club X Train service which is an upscale business class car that can be coupled in behind existing commuter trains in metropolitan areas. Our first phase of this operation will be initiated with our Club X Train brand railcars deployed between Los Angeles and San Diego.

It's probably pretty clear to everyone by now that there won't be an X Train running between Southern California and Las Vegas.

But there is no guarantee that this new version of the X Train company will succeed either. They have yet to show off their model cars... which were supposed to have been unveiled earlier this month. And I am not sure other train lines around the country will want to pay the X Train company for some exclusive rail car service... or if there is even demand for it.

It appears that the Las Vegas Railway Xpress company is moving ahead with its plan to offer special "luxury rail cars" to various railroads... even if its own plans for its own X Train have been (temporarily) derailed. Here is their latest press release:

Las Vegas Railway Express, Inc. (LVRE) (OTCQB: XTRN) and XTREME Manufacturing, LLC announce the signing of an agreement for rail car storage in Las Vegas, NV. XTREME Manufacturing, LLC will be providing rail car storage for the X Train's line of rail cars being prepared to deploy for "Club X Train" passenger rail service. XTREME Manufacturing, LLC is an engineering, fabrication, and assembly company. The company headquarters is based in Las Vegas, NV.

And in a separate release, the company says the first two rail cars are heading to Las Vegas for storage... but we have to wonder how long they will be in storage and how long it will be before they have a deal to provide their luxury rail car service to some railroad?

The Las Vegas Railway Express, Inc., (OTCQB: XTRN ) known as the Vegas X Train, announced today that their first 2 "Club X Train" rail cars have departed for Las Vegas, Nevada, the company's hometown. These cars will be the first of what is expected to be twenty passenger rail cars outfitted for a luxury passenger rail service experience in 2014. The X Train has developed a unique business model for passenger rail service that includes coupling luxurious "Club X Train" rail cars to existing passenger trains on selected routes. Passengers on these cars are offered exclusive service including catered food, beverages and concierge service.

The delivery of these cars marks a major milestone for the company. The brainchild of President and CEO, Michael Barron, the X Train has been on a mission to return luxury rail travel to the market reminiscent of a bygone era but with a modern upscale twist. The X Train team identified the need for luxury rail service throughout the country on existing rail routes. The first route, Los Angeles to San Diego and back will begin the service in February and it will expand into multiple markets from there.

"Passengers are looking for an alternative to current offerings in rail travel and the X Train provides that exclusive product," states Penny White, COO Passenger Services, Las Vegas Railway Express. "As we expand, Club X Train will serve passengers throughout the United States and Canada with day trips, casino fun packages and overnight adventures."

Haven't checked lately, so I don't know and I have no reason to post anything there. But I continue to get their press releases.
