Thread: Caesars Palace tightens comps and offers

  1. #1
Just off the phone with my host who told me that with some offers, usually free play or gift cards, a two-night minimum stay is required.

The policy started in December because some players abused the system and came in, registered, took their free play and bolted.

And if you don't stay two nights? I was told that future offers could be cancelled.

Of course players will always find ways to get around this such as checking out via the telephone after leaving the property... but I think the next step is to watch your activity on the property whether it's gaming or just going to a restaurant to see if you were really there for two days.

I'm sure the NSA would be more than happy to collect their data on things such as room door openings and card usage and send CET a summary of the activities. Probably for free!

Thanks for the heads up on this. I am one who sometimes does exactly this, so I will be checking out via the phone in the future if I don't stay 2 days.

Incidentally I think it's funny how they promote wsop.com so much, but if you just stay in your room and play there, your host doesn't like it.

So silly. CET has their oh-so-special 7-Stars players in another tizzy over something so minor that even Obama wouldn't lie about it.

Another day another lesson. NEVER talk to a host on the phone or in person. That's insanely stupid for people who value all those wonderful "free" things they get for their play. On the one hand Alan voices a churning stomach over this supposed new policy (he's wrong--they've said that for years) and on the other, he's criticizing the hand that feeds him. Overall, nice way to get your visits even more closely watched.

After my contest at TI (another thread), I went to Caesars for a day and a half. I booked a 2 night free on-line--didn't call host or use any offers. When I went to cage to activate my credit line, they asked me how I want my free play. I gave her the puzzled look and she said I have $500 free play. I said give me 5 $100 vouchers. She then told me I also have $500 for food etc. I had dinner reservations with another couple at Aria and so only had breakfast the next day so it was all wasted. Have no idea why the 500 & 500.

So maybe Caesars aint all bad.

    P.S.--went thru the $500 free play within a half hour. $200 in a $5 Bonus. $200 in a $1 Bonus and DDB. $100 in a 25 cent ultimate x. No winners.

What do you mean "no winners"?

How could you have run $500 freeplay in $5/$1/25c machines and come out with NOTHING? That's just about impossible.

Did you find out if your $500 food voucher was for this trip only, or if it could be "saved"?

If I had $500 to spend on food and already had other plans, I would probably walk into a random high end restaurant (like the steakhouse or Nobu) and often to pick up someone else's tab.

Dan I understand the point you are making about "no winners" but most players I think use free play to hit something big.

I have gone through $500 without getting even a paying pair on occasion.

I don't mean that there were no pairs, trips, etc. But nothing of any significant value to cash out, as I was going to play for a couple hours at that time anyway and would just have to feed $$ back in. But even those wins were minimal as I did blow thru it pretty fast.

With the free play and food voucher--I checked in late Sunday night and just played a little VP. Monday I played with cash both VP and craps. Late afternoon I went to cage to activate credit and found out about the offers. I would have changed dinner to Old Homestead but couldn't reach other couple. Thought about getting $500 wine but would have to ship it home as can't take on plane. Didn't think of treating someone else but wish I had thought of it.

I went back to Total Rewards to see if she could convert the $500 food to free play. She said I had to talk to a host. On the way to see host, I checked with concierge to see if my flights were still ok (they had been cancelling flights back to Chicago due to weather-we had about 4 hours left in Vegas). He found our flight had been cancelled. We scrambled to get on another flight and raced to the airport for the last flight back to Chicago, so I never made it to the host. So I don't know if she would have converted it or preserved it. Again, I didn't even know I had this offer. It is unusually high for my status these days.

I'm just sitting here wondering if anyone will criticize Dan's suggestion for picking up someone else's tab as immoral/illegal/unfair-to-casino. Not me, baby. If I couldn't pick up somebody's tab, I'd spend that $500 on Dentyne if necessary. And I don't chew gum.

I use my extra food credits all the time at Rincon to pick up someone else's check and waitress never questions it.
