Thread: X Train hype or reality?

  1. #1
Watching this news report about the first of the Las Vegas Railway Xpress club cars being delivered and the "show" put on for the media makes it seem that this luxury rail travel between Las Vegas and Los Angeles is about to start soon -- but it's not.

Watch this report on a Vegas TV station:

So far there is no deal for the X Train to operate anywhere. And they are booking trips? But on their Facebook page the Las Vegas Railway Xpress says its club car service is close to starting up. But with what train operator, and when, and what routes?

Meanwhile, there still is no "X Train" between Southern Cal and Vegas... they seem to be banking on attaching their "club cars" to a freight train (I guess) because there are no passenger trains running to Vegas.

Would be cool though, I would ride it if they built it

So would I LizzyM. I was an early supporter of the X Train concept and I still would ride it if it would come to be. Too bad. It really was a great idea -- and what I really liked about it was that it didn't involve billions of government or taxpayer dollars. All it needed was a deal with the existing freight carriers to allow a deal to use the existing tracks plus build some sidings to keep one train from blocking another en route.

The high speed rail line will never happen (in our lifetime) and it looks like a simple concept such as what the X Train had will not happen either.

Didn't the X Train plan to go from something like Fullerton to North Las Vegas? That is inconvenient on both sides for you, right? I believe you don't live anywhere near Fullerton.

This whole idea had fail written all over it.

Orignally the X Train was going to start at the Amtak station in downtown Los Angeles then make a stop in Fullerton and then travel to Vegas to the old Amtrak station at The Plaza in downtown.

Then the X Train scrapped the Los Angeles station and said the route would run from Fullerton to downtown Vegas.

Then downtown Vegas was scrapped because the X Train claimed that it needed space to load and unload as many as four or six trains simultaneously so it made some kind of offer to use vacant land in North Las Vegas.

One has to wonder if all of the changes were "stalls" for a project that couldn't meet start up date after start up date after start up date.

Well, the bottom line is that while the X Train folks still mention an X Train between So Cal and somewhere in Vegas they are moving ahead with their "party car" operation probably to show they can do something. To be honest, I want to know why the stockholders and especially the private placement investors aren't up in arms and suing?

A new post from the X Train today on Facebook indicates that they are trying to get their "casino train service" going in other parts of the country:

"As our company continues it's pursuit to offer passenger service between LA and Vegas, we have sought several other routes across the country where a similar service would be viable. There are many such gaming destinations and we are pursuing them. That division is called the Casino Party Train Group."
