Of course by now you've heard that the famed Sahara Hotel and Casino on the Vegas Strip is closing -- and the closing date is in May. The Sahara was made famous as the home casino for the Rat Pack including Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis and it was featured in the original Oceans 11 movie. One of the iconic scenes of that movie is Sammy Davis walking by the sign of the Sahara with the names of the Rat Pack on it.

With the closing announced, souvenir hunters are already descending on the Sahara to get something and $1 casino chips are in high demand. They are in such high demand that I'm hearing that the casino cage is putting a limit of selling two $1 chips per visit. This is a bad idea. The casino reportedly says that it doesn't want to run out of $1 chips before it closes its doors.

Well, I've got a tip for the Sahara-- order more $1 chips as fast as you can and sell them all because every $1 chip that you sell to a collector and is not redeemed is pure profit.

And while you're at it, Sahara bosses, order some new blackjack table felts and craps table felts and anything else with the name Sahara on it and sell those too. Order and sell, and order and sell, and order and sell.

Hey, you guys -- you can keep ordering and selling even after the casino stops operating and even after the hotel closes. Simply set up a trailer in the parking lot with a sign that says "closing out memorabilia" and sell, sell, sell. Order ashtrays, matchbooks, towels -- and sell it all.
