Thread: Today is a day for celebration!

  1. #1
That's right, I'm sure most of you are well aware of this but just in case you forgot I wanted to remind you that today is

    National Organ Donor Day!!!

I'd suspect that Alan has some special plans for today, and I encourage everyone who hasn't completely pickled every organ in their body to visit The US governments HHS page on organ donation.

And that's not all, today is also Ferris Wheel day!

I think there is also something else going on today but I can't quite remember what it is. I wouldn't worry about it too much though; I'm sure that if you forget about it nobody would care too much.

Thank you for posting that Spock. I have the organ donor logo on my website. In 1969 my father was a recipient of a kidney. Organ donors were very few back then. In 2000 my dear friend from Wisconsin lost her daughter to an accident. Four months after her death, a Wisconsin bill (The Kelly Nachreiner Bill) was passed. It requires all drivers education programs in Wisconsin to give at least 30 minutes of instruction on organ donation. http://www.organdonorhalloffame.org/...achreiner.html. Please consider giving the gift of life. Register to be an organ donor TODAY!!!

And here I was thinking this thread was about me....schucks!

Anyway, while the actual idea Spock is identifying is admirable, I have to question if those pictures weren't somehow fabricated, and if so, how is he benefitting from it??

Ahhhh Robbie is trying to make this thread about him as well. How pathetic. Ah well, same sh** different day.

@Spock, thank you for bringing attention to this worthy cause!

Thanks for posting Spock. I didn't realize there was such a thing as National Organ Donor Day. For me, every day is thank my organ donor and their family day...and night. Every day I remember that someone died and their kidney and pancreas is inside of me and I don't have to go through dialysis, and after 32 years of being an insulin dependent diabetic with shots two or three times a day I don't have to do that anymore.

Organ donors and their families need to be honored and remembered every day.

And it would make sense if our government would do more to promote live donation.

There is federal legislation on the books (and Republicans are responsible for it, by the way) that has Uncle Sam pick up the tab for the medical costs involved with live kidney donations (testing, surgery, medical care for the living donors). But missing from the package is some sort of financial help for the living donors who will miss work for a week or two while they prepare for and recover from the donor surgery (which by the way is usually laparoscopic and requires very little down time).

That's right Alan. The government should back off and let us sell our organs to anyone we choose. That would help greatly.

Since we're on the subject anyway, another site that would be great for people to take a look at is http://bethematch.org/, also, or formerly, known as the National Bone Marrow registry. For most blood cancers, (of which leukemia is the most well known but others exist as well), a bone marrow transplant is the only cure. Be The Match helps test volunteer donors and compiles a registry of their human leukocyte antigens, which is what is used to determine the best match. In most cases donating is now relatively easy, not much different from giving blood.

Since the vast majority of doctors want donors between the ages of 18 and 44 they really don't need people older than that on the registry which I suspect cuts out a lot of people here. It is a relatively simple thing that people can do that may save another persons life so I encourage anyone who falls in the age range to at least look into it, and for those that are older you might want to suggest it to your children or friends and co-workers.

This organization took on an entire new meaning for me when my mother was diagnosed this past fall, first with a bone marrow disease that effects her ability to produce blood platelets which then advanced to acute myelogenous leukemia, (AML). She is ineligible for a marrow transplant and due to her age her treatment options are limited, but even so I'm glad the marrow registry exists and I encourage all who can participate to do so.

Eddie says he is younger than 44. But would anybody really want a clown like that's bone marrow or blood circulating thru their system? Besides, no doubt he'd try to charge the needy for his services, as a make-up for being a failed gambler.

My...exactly how deep have I gotten under your skin!

Singer 0, Everyone else on this board 50,000

Explain why anyone would be jealous or envious of you posting photo-shopped pictures and jackpots other people have won?

You disappear for less than 48 hours and return with another story and another picture of a $50,000 win, on a game you claim you never play. Riiiight...

Since your last post 2 days ago:

Alan has agreed to post his W-2Gs if you would do the same. Your answer?

I have agreed to send Alan my most recent tax returns if you did the same. Your answer?

Alan and redietz have offered to meet you in Las Vegas to examine the "proof" you claim to now have. Your answer?

arcimede$ has said to send him the "proof" and he would post it here. Your answer?

arcimede$ said his tax forms are standing by and ready to go if you also send yours. Your answer?

You never did deny my heinous insinuation that you sexually abused your children. Since you expect everyone here to believe anything you say just because...well just because you said it I think I'll give it another try.

Rob Singer lives in an RV because that way the FBI can't pinpoint and arrest him for all the kiddie porn he has on his computer. Between the thousands of posts across multiple forums and his fixation with his "schlong" what else could he be doing?

Alan posted earlier that winning at VP is nothing to be jealous or envious about. I doubt you were ever a winning player. You are however, a homophobic, racist, chauvinistic, cheap, gambling addicted compulsive liar. You have contributed absolutely nothing to the human race throughout your pitiful existence. No wait...I'm wrong. Long after you're gone and "eating dirt" as you like to say, all your insults and ridiculous claims will remain on these message boards for all to see. I'm sure people will still be having a good laugh at all your antics and ridiculous claims!

    So keep it up Rob!

Alan, you really should reconsider to throw this fool the hell out of here. He even can't bring up the decency not to hyjack a thread like this. Even topics about serious matters he tries to derail with his nonsense. You really should consider to put an end to this. This is going nowhere.

What the FUCK is wrong with you??????????

My mother is dying because of a blood disease and in a thread where people are trying to support the selfless efforts of others to save people's lives your only contribution is a self-centered attack on another forum member???

Holy CRAP that is the most pathetic thing I have ever read in a forum.

In more than 20 years of being online I have never seen something even remotely that shallow. In fact, once you get outside of a junior high environment the chance of seeing a comment such as yours narrows to being virtually impossible. There may have been a few people prior to this that didn't think you were a slimy piece of garbage but not any more.

    <sarcasm>
Thanks so much Alan for letting this snake ooze his way back onto the forum.
    </sarcasm>
Please see if you can hire a snake charmer to drive him away.

Spock posted something that is very near and dear to my heart. Could we please just keep this thread about something very important in all our lives? Save the bashing for other posts.

The reason why sales of organs for transplant is not permitted is this:

if organ sales were allowed there is the danger that donors who are not well enough will sell organs, and that others could be pressured economically to sell organs, or that a bidding war would prevent those with the most critical need or the best match from securing the donated organ they need.

If you want to sell an organ go to China or India.

In fact, before a live donation is accepted, the potential donor is carefully screened to be sure they have no reservations about the donation, and they are not being paid, and they are not being pressured to make the donation. The system is very careful to protect the rights and the health of the donors.

If a person wants to sell an organ to anyone for any reason and any price its their business. People don't need the government involved in any way shape or form PERIOD! It's nobody's else's affair

Not seen something that shallow? This is a forum on LV and is gambling related Spock. Take a look back at how often you make shallow, hate-driven claims about my jackpot pictures, then delve into the plethora of lies jealous Eddie makes up just because he can't figure out how to deal with them. There are consequences to what people do.

No what I posted was the truth. And just like you I don't need to provide any proof.

My how deeply I have gotten under your skin!
