Thread: WTF is this "Dream Card" garbage at Rincon?

  1. #1
I had some freeplay last time I was at Rincon, and it wasn't enough to warrant play on the $5/credit machines. However, I wasn't going to play the terrible payout machines that now occupy most of the VP area.

As far as I can tell, there are only 3 presentable Bonus Poker machines left in all of Rincon.

There is the $1/$2/$5 machine labeled Game King in the High Limit area, with 99.26 Aces and Faces and 99.40 Ace$.

There is a 25c/50c/$1/$2/$5 machine in the regular area, with the same.

There is a 25c/50c/$1/$2/$5 right next to it with 99.17 Bonus Poker, but not the other slightly better variants.

Anyway, all 3 machines were being hogged and I finally gave up and just sat at a 3-play machine, which I thought was full pay bonus poker.

    Nope!

Instead it was taking DOUBLE the credits for each hand (wtf) and paying out single. For example, if I was playing $1 triple play for 5 credits each, instead of $15 per hand, it was $30 per hand, yet I was only being paid as if I was being charged $15 per hand!

To make up for this, you get some weird "dream card" sometimes where the card on the right is automatically changed to the best-case-scenario card (when first dealt). If you are a Rob Singer type, you can change the card to something else. (I never tried it, since I was always happy with what it dealt.) For example, when you get dealt 3-3-4-8-x, it changes the x into a third 3.

So that's supposed to "make up" for the fact that you're paying double per hand, but I think it sucks overall, and I bet the odds are terrible.

I had already committed my freeplay into the machine before I realized, so I was stuck with it, and walked away with about 80% of my freeplay value, which was lousy but could have been worse.

I love how it tricks you into playing it with no notification of what you're playing until you actually get started. It looks like a regular Bonus Poker 3-Play on the surface, except for the "Dream Card" words written on the machine.

    Dan,

Rincon has 2 of the Draw Poker With Dream Card machines. I've played them before and like any other machine if you get lucky on it you can get into a cycle where it hits quite frequently. The expensive part is the minimum lines you can play are triple and quarters will cost you $7.50 each time you hit the deal button (if you play the max). The last time I was at Rincon I played it and it dealt me 3 Jacks and the dream card came up and it was another Jack. I cashed out the $750.00 and walked away. The machine also has a Five Play and Ten Play.

My husband plays a machine at Harrah's Las Vegas that has the dream card game on it. You can play all the regular games on it but it's a single hand game and takes 10 credits for the max play. The machine has other games on it as well like Random Rewards, Ultimate Poker, Super Times Pay. I'm not sure what the machine is called but it doesn't say Game King. There is one at the Flamingo and Caesars as well but I think the one at Caesars starts out as dollar denomination.

Dan I am surprised you didn't know what dream card is. It can be a very profitable game. The dream card comes more frequently on bonus. I think you should read up on it before you condemn it. The machines are often taken when I want to play. Ive had some very big winning sessions when I had the proper starting bankroll. You won't find it at Caesars.

There is a machine at Caesars in the slot room behind the high limits room that has a single hand dream card game on it among others. I think it's call 5 STAR POKER and it's red. I think the lowest denomination you can play is dollars.

Thanks. I will look for it. Is this machine by the restrooms?

If you know where the poker machines are in that room by the restrooms, the machine with the Dream Card game is a few aisles in around the middle of the room. It's a lower slant type machine and I think it says Five Star Poker on the top.
The one at Harrahs is in the poker room by the buffet. It's up against the wall. There is only one there. That's the one my husband plays.

    Dan,
You don't have to activate the "dreamcard" feature if you don't want to.
Just press the single credit button fifteen times and Walla full pay triple play
Bonus Poker. Be careful not to hit the max credit button then it activates the
dreamcard feature. My wife and I usually "hog" these two machines when
    we are there.

I was hoping that one of our forum members would post the results of his trip to Rincon on Friday. It looks as though he won't be and that's too bad since he had an outstanding session at Dream Card hitting multiple quads including aces and on the day he had two royals.

But in my discussion with him I realized that he may have made a tactical error. The way I understand it, with the Dream Card game at Rincon you receive tier credits only for the initial five coin bet per hand. Dream Card charges you 10 coins per hand and there are no tier credits or reward credits for the additional five coins you play. At least that's how it was about a year ago.

Can anyone confirm that is still how the game is treated there?

Some of us pay attention to what we are doing.
10 highlights from less than 80 minutes of Friday's dream card play.

Pay attention or pay in pain!

It seems there is some kind of cult following of this thread. I was sent a photo of another royal on "that dream card garbage" game at Rincon. See below (and it's not mine):

We were at Rincon over the weekend. I could not find the dream card machines. I think they removed them from the casino. I also noticed they moved out a few other machines that I enjoy playing.

They changed the names of the towers. What used to be the Garden Tower is now called the "Dive" Tower, the old Spa Tower is now "the South Tower" and the new tower is called "The North Tower."

We were lucky to get a Coronado suite on the 19th floor. It was very nice. The drapes behind the tv and bathtub are electric and the lights in the bathrooms come on automatically when you enter. I took a nap on the balcony and it was nice but a bit windy.
