Thread: Claims I stole his royal

  1. #1
Friday afternoon had a meeting at 4 and my 2 o'clock cancelled, so off to play a little VP for about an hour. I like to play the Ultimate X when I'm just looking for a little entertainment.

There are only 3 of them at this casino. I head for the one I like and no one is playing but the chair is turned around facing out. I wait a few minutes in case someone went to the john or out to smoke. No one comes over so I start playing.

After a few hands I get a royal, with no multiplier so $4000--no multiplier on that line. While waiting to be paid, a guy comes over and starts screaming that he had the game reserved etc. etc. and that I should split it with him. He calls over supervisor who says if the chair is turned I shouldn't have played and that I should split it.

Me being the kind calm gentle sort--I tell them to go eff themselves and get the eff out of here. And Rob--because they pissed me off--no tip.

I have seen various ways to save a machine, mostly with a leaned chair. I really wasn't sure what a turned chair meant other than he may have been watching the TV behind him.

    Any thoughts??

P.S.--I should add that this is the casino that barred me from shooting dice. Also, I have won 2 cases against them where I represented other players.

Just noticed this got in the wrong place. Was supposed to be in Vegas threads

Was this a California casino? I ask that only because you posted in this area.

Anyway, the jackpot is yours -- you played it, with your money, and you pushed the button.

Should you have played that particular machine because the chair was turned? That is open to debate. I wish I could see a picture. That the chair was "turned" doesn't mean anything to me. If the chair was leaning onto the machine (the way most people signal that they are playing a machine when they run to the ATM or the bathroom) I think you should have stayed away. But a "turned chair"? A turned chair means nothing to me.

People turn chairs when they sit down to have conversations with others.

The fact that you stood there waiting, is also in your favor.

Many casinos now will actually "lock" a machine if a player requests it when they go on break.

See the above Alan. I either posted this wrong or it got placed wrong. Meant to put it in the Vegas threads. Feel free to move it if you like.

No machine is saved unless the casino locks it out or someone sitting near by tells you they are saving it for someone else who may have gone to the bathroom or to cash a ticket or get more money.
Was there a players card in the machine? Even if a players card is in it does not mean someone is playing it. Many people, and I am guilty of this myself, forget to take their players card out of the machine.

One time I was at Rincon and I walked up to a Quick Hits machine to play it. There was a players card in the machine but no one was sitting there. I asked the gal playing the machine next to the one I wanted to play if anyone was playing
it and she said she didn't know. Just as I sat down and put my card in the machine this very nasty woman walks up and starts ranting and raving I stole her machine. I told her I was sorry I didn't think anyone was playing it. She got very loud and
said she was going to call security. I told her I think that would be a good idea. Maybe they would tell her to leave because she was making a scene. When I pulled my card out of the machine she then accused me of stealing her card.
I put her card to the side and pointed to it. NO WAY was I going to touch it again. Me being the calm and no nonsense kind of gal that I am just told her to chill out and I walked away. People started to laugh.

The bottom line is and I'm sure the casino would agree is that if you leave a machine to go to the bathroom, smoke or whatever ask the person next to you to watch the machine or hit the service button on your machine and ask an attendant to watch it
until you return. They will do that for you.

Nash, especially at Rincon I find a lot of abandoned cards left in machines. Like you I will ask if someone is playing, and usually I am told that the person has left and just left behind their card.

There was no card--just the turned chair. I didn't bother to try to explain that she wouldn't have gotten that royal because of the timing and the RNG. It would have been way over her head.

regnis I am surprised the casino worker suggested you split the jackpot. that was absolutely absurd.

I'm not one of their favorites there with management because of my history. Cashiers, dealers, etc love me because I'm a friendly type with them. But the legal issues and the dice ban have management a little put off.

You should post the name of this casino. Unbelievably stupid that an employee there should tell you to split it (LOL). Would that same guy have covered half your losses if you lost while playing it when he thought he had it "saved"? Obviously not.

Because of a non-disclosure agreement I never use this casino's name in any way--good, bad, or otherwise.
