Thread: Frank Scoblete: what was that guarantee anyway?

  1. #1
I want to bring this discussion over here to my forum because Frank I don't think you can get a fair hearing on that other forum.

At issue is the money back guarantee that GTC gave.

Frank wrote on the other forum: "What if I had said there were no 'money-back guarantee'? I think the attacks would come as surely as they have above when I said we had an ironclad 'money back guarantee.'"

    So what was guaranteed?

I can understand that you guaranteed that the class would show and demonstrate and inform about this-or-that technique but I am sure you never guaranteed actual success. That could never be guaranteed because you can't teach success. You can only teach the tools that are used to be successful.

    Am I right?

You are right. I couldn't guarantee success. I went to Weight Watchers for a year and lost 50 pounds. I have gained it all back. Did Weight Watchers work? Yes. I just couldn't continue with it. I was a terrific athlete as a kid, even got scholarships for it, but I didn't have the goods to become a major leaguer. Were all my coaches frauds or did they actually teach me what they were paid to teach me?

As far as dice control, it took me three years to get competent. I guess it would be this: Did we teach what we said we'd teach? Did you the student think it was worth the price? The student's opinion would be the bottom line. As I said in 10 years no one asked for his money back.

No matter what anyone thinks of dice control (or dice influencing) I would not be involved in a rip off of students. I know it works --- I've been doing this for a quarter of a century. Figure 130 days spent in casinos every year. It would take monumental luck for me to be ahead and to have casinos be aware of that and ban me. Vegas has become almost unplayable for me; all of Mississippi is off my map and there are casinos scattered here and there that are not too pleasant to me.

Now I am no longer involved in the world of dice control. This year I will only be going to casinos for 10 days. I am travelling the United States, catching baseball games in every park, travelling the world as well. My wife the beautiful AP and I have done the casino thing and we were able to get me out of huge debt from my first wife, buy a house and pay it off in seven years, send two sons to a private high school and college without taking loans. I did have a teaching job for some of those years, my wife had a job, slowly I became a best selling author and right up with everything else were our days of advantage play. Our trips to Vegas were called "tuition runs."

Since no one asked for their money back when I was with Golden Touch, it was always hazy in terms of time. But if someone asked the week or month after the class we would have given it. We wouldn't ask questions either. The person could explain why or not. I am assuming that this is still in effect but I have almost no contact with Golden Touch anymore so I cannot speak for them now.

Thanks for responding Frank. Your analogy about Weight Watchers is perfect. WW can teach you how to lose weight but its up to you to lose it (I guess how it works since I never needed WW).

You are facing a lot of critics because the critics can't throw the dice with any kind of disciplined approach. They probably never even tried to keep two dice together, on axis, with a soft throw to the middle of the table. I wonder what would happen if they actually tried and found that they could do just that much? Would it change their opinion? Would they try to take the next step in learning and practicing DI?

And again I have to say something that I've always said: even if you believe every throw of the dice will give you a random result then IT DOES NOT HURT to try not to have a random result. You are not breaking any law or any casino rule if you throw the dice with a controlled throw, hitting the table at least once and hitting the back wall. And I don't know of any casino that will take the dice away from you for setting them as long as you do it quickly. (I might be the exception because NYNY did take the dice away from me for setting and I did not delay the game... only won money.)

I consider everyone who says DI is "impossible" to be "flat worlders" who centuries ago would have proclaimed that the world is flat because others also said the world was flat.

Too bad you can't take all the critics into a room and lock 'em up until they at least try it. "Try it, you'll like it."
