Since the menu and photo of the food look good, on May 31st I stopped by Harrah's Café for the late night special. Unfortunately it was closed as it was under construction. The sign said go to KGB Burger for late night dining.

There was a Steak and Egg late night special as well but it was something around $12. The steak was pretty good and larger than the photo you had of Harrah's Café.

So funny you posted this. I had this 7.99 special in April and they packed it up real nice to take to my room. Of course they charge me extra for the packaging.

I went back there in May to have it and like the above post it was closed. I went to KGB and didnt realize there was also a steak special there. I ordered waffle fry thing with cheese and meat. It was awful. Wish i had known about the steak.

The steak and egg late night special at KGB burger had some tasty garlic infused flattened tater tots. They went well with the juicy steak. Not as cheap as the Ellis Island steak but it was on the strip and I could pay with rewards credits. Service was pretty good too. It was worth the walk from Ceasars Palace land of the awful Central cafe.

Speaking of Central Cafe... I think it is disgusting that food is served on some sort of plank of wood that, if you ask me, is probably loaded with bacteria and doesn't appear that it can be properly cleaned in a high temperature dishwasher.

I heard from my host that the cafe at Harrah's was going to be closed. I used to love to go in there for a shrimp Caesar flatbread but they took it off the menu.
Aside from Toby Keith's and Ruth's Chris and the buffet, KGB is the only other restaurant Harrah's has. I don't think KGB is opened for breakfast though.
The burger at KGB is okay. We actually like the burgers at the burger place in the food court at Caesars. I also like BURGER the Gordon Ramsey place at Planet Hollywood.
Both take your rewards credits and not served on a wood plank.

Generally I agree about wooden dishes and utensils, but from what I've heard wood has natural anti-bacterial properties. Plastic and other materials get micro cracks that can't be cleaned properly sometimes. Guess you can't win them all.

According to Rob only consistent losers order the special at the coffee shop. It's exactly what the casinos want you to do.

More education is required. Wooden planks are regularly used--and reused--for serving one of the healthiest entrees on the planet: salmon, and it only adds to the taste because the planks are always pre-seasoned when used properly by knowledgeable chefs. They can be cleaned in the dishwasher just as efficiently as any other cooking apparatuses.

As for cheap cafes wanting consistent losers to order their worst items....if that's true, then they really REALLY made the mistake of the century with Mr. & Mrs. Arci.

I just revisited this thread. The "wooden planks" in question at Central at Caesars are flat planks used to replace dishes for serving burgers, as well as other sandwiches. These are not the "planks" known for the service and preparation of salmon.
