A friend of mine tonight is on his way to Vegas with the goal of selling an entry ticket into a WSOP tournament. He got the entry at a local casino at a low cost and believes he will sell it for close to face value.

I think he definitely will sell it for close to face value... in fact I think he might sell it for the actual face value.

Several times I've won "satellites" or "sit 'n go" one table tournaments for a seat at a larger tournament. Sometimes I've won more than one seat to a tournament. And the "standard practice" at a casino like The Bicycle was to stand at the "ticket window" and simply hold up the entry to offer it for sale. Usually, the next player in line would pay you the full price for the entry. Never did anyone ask me if I would take less than the full price since the "full price" ticket was only steps away. Players would often buy the entries from other players as a friendly player-to-player thing to do.

My friend says he is willing to sell the WSOP tournament ticket for $100 under the actual ticket price. I think he'll get full price for it. I hope he does.
