Thread: No more take-out food at Rincon?

  1. #1
I received a phone call a short time ago from a Rincon casino customer who asked me if it's true that the restaurants at Rincon have stopped providing take-out service? I don't know.

Can anyone confirm that they stopped restaurant take-out service?

Whenever I go to the 24-hour Cafe at Rincon there are usually several guests at the cashier paying for take-out orders -- usually these are hotel guests taking food up to their rooms.

I've actually used my free dining credits to take home a whole apple pie or a whole cheesecake from The Cafe when I didn't use all my credits for a meal.

I think a lot of people will be disappointed if this turns out to be true.

Last week when I printed out my food coupon, two coupons were printed. My amount was split into two equal amounts. Since Pink's and Earl's were available I used my coupons and the person helping me said that the problem was that when the late night buses leave the Cafe was swamped with take out orders.

Last time I was at Rincon there was a sign at the cafe saying no more take out service. I think it said for several, but not all, of the restuarants. The cafe and ritas were on the no take out list. I figured that so many people were doing what I sometimes did...using up their food credit by bringing home dinner and dessert. When doing this most people probably try to get as close as they can to using the full credit amount. These food credits probably won't get used if not allowed for take out. I rarely use mine to actually eat there. So maybe the casino is looking to save a few bucks by not giving as much free food??

Thanks for the info. If they divide the food voucher into two coupons can you use both at the same time?

Had this situation at another location. It takes a few minutes more but sit down, place the same order, take a bite, and get a doggy bag. I have asked for an uncooked steak on occasion, although they really should not give that to you due to health and food safety laws.

Regnis, they actually charged a $2 fee for a "doggy bag" which means packaging for leftovers to go home.

I guess we should ask the forum members who have been there recently: can you still pay the $2 for a doggy bag, or did they stop that too?

I was always able to talk them out of that stupid $2 takeout charge.

I do think it's possible that they nixed takeout because of people using food vouchers to take food home. I remember I ordered a massive "to-go" bag from Rita's taco truck including tons of candy and Mexican sodas. I did this because I had way too much food credit to use by myself, so I figured I might as well not let it go to waste.

I'm sure it was done as a way to minimize costs. Whenever I didn't use up my whole weekly food allowance I would take home a whole apple pie or cheesecake. Sometimes I wouldn't even eat in the cafe... and just take a couple of pies home for my $60 food credit. I admit it -- I'm guilty.

When the Pinks was there before they remodeled we used to use our food coupon to take home raw hot dogs and buns. We would take them home in our cooler and freeze them. A couple of weeks ago we had a food coupon for $60.00 so we tried to take home Pinks but they told us they aren't allowed to sell raw meat.

I wonder if you still eat in the cafe and use your coupon but have some left if they will let you take a dessert home.

I wonder if you can still get pies, cakes, cookies and chocolate covered strawberries at the buffet to take out.

We go to Rincon at least every other weekend. We stay at least one night. I went to Rincon for the first time last summer. It was the only vacation so I splurged on the 2 bdrm Catalina suite for two nights for our family of 5. (I highly recommend the suite by the way, 1550sf of glory. The huge balcony is nice also). I can't believe you've never stayed overnight Allen. I live in Murrieta only 30 min any and thoroughly enjoy my stays with and without my 3 boys. That's a story for another time.
My husband arrives at 8:00am to get our favorite spot at the lazy river. Myself and the boys get there about an hour later. The first thing I do Is check in at the front desk. Then, the boys want to eat. Last weekend we headed straight for the café. My 16 year old doesn't mind eating his chicken fried steak poolside. The sign said, "Because of the high demand for take out will no longer be providing this service". My 20 year old college student thought that was kind of funny. Its really popular so were going to stop providing that service?? Kind of an oxymoron. They only provide Mexican food before 11:00. We'll be eating on the way over from now on.

VPnewbie thanks for joining and for posting. I wonder how many regulars to Rincon have actually complained? I know that the management team at Rincon reads this forum because they've told me.

I wonder if they saw my posts about how the spa cheated me out of time and covered it up after I caught it.

No one mentioned that specific post. Provide a link in case they missed it the first time. (Hi guys!)

    http://vegascasinotalk.com/forum/showth...arrah-s-Rincon!

    This was from March, 2013.

However, I have an unhappy post-post-script.

The last time I was at Rincon, I got a 20-minute massage (again, with a comp coupon), and I got 11 minutes.

I showed up on time, by the way. I just got viciously shorted.

This is despite the fact that new management runs the place.

This was a few months ago. Haven't been back to Rincon since.

The new manager did handle it a lot better, admitting fault and telling me she would repeat the massage whenever I wanted. I got the replacement one later that afternoon. Obviously I didn't tip the original therapist who shorted me, but did tip the replacement massage therapist.

The cover-up was what pissed me off last time.

But they should really be training these massage therapists that they will get instantly terminated for pulling crap like this.

I'm curious about the "short massage" -- was there a clock or timer on display, or did you realize you were shorted because you looked at your own watch. I have to admit I've never had a massage and I don't know the procedure. At the poker tables when players get a massage there is a timer that can be seen and heard.

Are you asking about the first shorting or the second shorting?

The first time, the therapist TURNED OFF THE CLOCK so I wouldn't see that she shorted me. I found out the truth when I opened my locker and saw the time on my phone. I got really angry when the manager attempted to cover up the cover-up by telling me that the clock "had problems because of daylight savings time", which made zero sense because it was correct when I walked in. She was trying to cover for her employee stiffing me, and I decided to report the entire matter to the hotel manager.

The second time the therapist left the clock on, but I didn't see it until she walked out of the room and I sat up (I had been face down during the massage). In this case, the manager instantly apologized and offered to make it right, so I didn't take it further over her head.
