Thread: No more credit card privileges in nevada

Just arrived at Caesars and shocked to find they now charge a fee for credit/debit transactions even for 7 Stars. Started this past Thursday. You do get free play for the fee amount.

Did you ever do this, Alan?

Because your credit card still charges you a cash advance fee and interest, right?

Seems like a foolish way to get money unless you are a degenerate gambler and can't help yourself.

    Alan,

Does that mean if I use my Bank ATM card at the casino cage there will now be a fee from CET?

It used to be NO FEE for ATM card use at the cage. Now you are charged a fee by Caesars Entertainnent. This is not a fee from your bank.

    Example:

In the past I would go to the cage at Caesars with my ATM card and take out cash. There was no ATM fee and no bank fee.

Now I use my ATM card at the cage and there is still no bank fee but CET charges a fee.

The regular ATM fee at Caesars Palace is $5.99 plus your bank might charge a fee. That might now be a lower cost than using the cage which used to be totally free.

In the past the cage waived fees on credit card cash advances but no more.

Another 7 Stars and Diamond benefit is gone.

Edited to add: In the past, I used to use my bank ATM card at the cage to pay my markers. And under the old policy I had no other costs -- there were no fees and I didn't have to mail a check, or pay for a Bank Cashier's Check, etc. But now, under the new policy, if I present my ATM card at the cage I will get socked with a Caesars fee, even though there is no fee from my bank.

As a consolation, Caesars will give you free play equivalent to the fee they charged. If you are using an ATM card and otherwise would be using your own money to play that "free play consolation" might be acceptable. But I found out that the cage fee on a $5,000 ATM payment (ATM and NOT a credit card cash advance) is about $202+ change and you would only receive $200 in free play -- so it's not really a full consolation payment.

The fee on a cash advance is more than the ATM fee, but I didn't ask what that was.
