One of the most famous restaurants in LA will close -- temporarily -- at the end of the month to move from West Hollywood and reinvent itself in Beverly Hills.

It's The Palm.

Here's an article in the LA Times that explains it:

The Palm was the first restaurant I had dinner in here in LA.

When I arrived in LA for my first job at Fox in the fall of 1987, my agent who lives here in LA picked me up and she took me to the Palm.

It not only was my first experience of being at a prime LA hot spot, but it was also my first experience of how errors in LA can be very expensive.

I am not going to mention my former agent's name here.

When we surrendered the car to the valet her purse slipped out of her hand onto the floor. She quickly scrambled to pick up her various things. We both thought nothing of the mishap.

Inside we had an amazing dinner.

The check arrived and being a good agent who was taking me out for a welcome to LA dinner, she immediately reached for the check, and then reached for her purse to pull out her wallet.

Then she discovered her wallet was missing. Oops. And I paid for dinner.

But when we got back in the car... there was the wallet... on the floor, under the brake.

Good for her. Me? It was my welcome to LA experience.
