Thread: Philly vs. Colts

I haven't bet on any NFL games this year....until an hour ago. I expected to see Indy -7 or more, but after breakfast in a local casino today I was surprised to see it at -3. This is a no-brainer. Indy had to play in Denver for their opening game and they didn't do all that badly. Philly has no chance going into Indy tonight. None. Period. I wanted to put all $1500 in my wallet on Indy, but they wouldn't take more than $1000 in action.

So here's another opportunity for the envious Singer haters to cheer for me to lose!

Go INDY! Go Andrew Luck! Skill will not win this game. Luck will.....

I too was surprised that indy is only favored by 3 points. That is basically home field advantage spread. This game has a trap feel to it. I'm very leery of philly but if I had a bet on it (I dont) I be on indy as well. Anyways, good luck Rob.

I wonder how many people thought the exact same thing with Chicago and SF?

Another Singer sure thing. LOL At least Singer is consistent. He is almost always wrong. Philly 30-27.

I didn't see this thread until now. I actually had the Eagles as a one unit play, which is my minimum. I liked your last lineup, Rob, but not this one. Basically, the Eagles are better conditioned than most of these NFL squads, and it shows. Colts were a mirage last year. I thought the Texans might give them a run for the division, so I took Houston at 35-1 to win the AFC.

During the first half I read on one of the sports betting forums where this was an "advantage play" at -3.5. And if the refs hadn't blown another obvious pass interference call I'd be counting more profits right now. But alas, all is not lost. This was an ADVANTAGE PLAY people....you know, where the player is making X amount/hour just because it was a "good bet"!! I may not be able to put real money into my account today, but those AP-phantom bucks sure will come in handy some day. And, don't you just KNOW how good it'll feel at the end of the year when I can still claim to be a "winner" yet again because of "good" bets like these! Don't you just LOVE how they do this?

Red, both teams were super-conditioned. The big bubbas get tired no matter what. Luck is the superior QB and was supposed to rip up Philly's secondary for at least 300. Now I see defects in the Indy pass defense. A day late.

Arci must have purposely been awol when I hit the $46,000 parlay. Or maybe he was at CVS....I mean, KFC!!

Rob, I love you, but unless you're talking about Jerry Rice or Terrell Owens, NFL players are not "super-conditioned." Soccer or hoops athletes would run rings around them.

I'm sure one can read just about anything on sports forums (I don't read them), but how in the world can you extract some anonymous loon using the words "advantage play" and go off on some weird rant? I hate jargon, but I can tell you "advantage play" isn't really a sports jargon phrase. Who, exactly, are the "they" you're referring to in the post above?

There are no "they" in sports gambling. Some of your wagers, frankly, have made sense, and I have no qualms with you liking the Colts. I wasn't in love with the Eagles. But your rant above is just off base, fictional blather misinforming forum readers.

Wizard claims to be an "advantage player" who bets vp & sports. Fezzik claims to be a pure sportsbetting AP. And they both claim to make X amount/hour, win or lose. That's all the looney jargon I need to get it. The anonymous poster could have been one of them for all anyone knows.

Last night the announcer said Philly was super-conditioned. I emulated him. It's too early in the season to be able to determine if any of these blubbas ran out of gas or not. Like I said, that BAD call cost Indy the game, although they should have scored at least 10 more points anyway.

For those not in the know, "The Wizard" isn't actually someone whose opinion is respected or feared in sports gambling. He's just a crossover wannabe. Fezzik, despite two SuperContest wins, has claimed he has retired from big-time sports gambling. There are reasons for this, but the obvious conclusion is that he wasn't exactly kicking ass in the non-contest world of sports betting. If you're following these two guys, God bless you.

Anyone who would like further insights regarding any of this is invited to join me and some of my people during our annual December base-touching in Las Vegas during dead week. Rob, Alan, regnis, Arci, Dan, you're invited along with everybody else.

And Rob, it's the NFL. There's a dozen bad calls and non-calls every game. The non-call in the Colts game was middle-of-the-road in terms of egregiousness.

To quote my version of Kenny Rogers "The Gambler":

    Every gambler knows
    That on any given Sunday
The worst teams in the N-F-L
    Can beat the league's elite.

But even seasoned pros (that's you, Rob)
    Cringe on those rare occasions
    When a flimsy yellow handkerchief
    Spells victory or defeat.

You gotta know how to bet 'em.
    Know how to sweat 'em.
Know when to scream and shout,
    Know when to sigh.

    You never count your money
'Til those blind men in the striped shirts
    Decide the game is over,
And shoot that gun into the sky.

Fezzik, the GREAT actuary of AP sportsbettors, no longer a big time mensa bettor? WTF?

There were two BAD calls/non calls that hurt the Colts last night--and NONE that hurt Philly. The "there's always some in every game anyway" angle doesn't hold water when one team benefits from every zebra mistake.

I'll be with arci during dead week. Appropriate name by the way.

You just have to love it when Madam Roberta makes a complete fool of herself and then gets her panties in a bunch because no one will feel sorry for her. LOL
