Thread: Busy season offers

  1. #1
Except for the "dead week" over Christmas this is the busy season for Vegas because of conventions. Has anyone noticed any impact on their offers?

  2. #2
My Vegas freeplay has been $1250 and I received an offer for $2000 with the Tropical Getaway offer for November 14-16.

  3. #3
I usually get $900 in free play and my Tropical Vacation Offer for mid-November is the exact same accompanying free play.

In today's mail... an offer from the Golden Nugget to "double" any offer from any other Vegas casino. I've never set foot in the GN.

About a year ago I received an offer to "match" my offers from any other Vegas casino but the offer required that the "free play" be divided over three days.

Alan: My dad received some big offers from Caesars based on his play during the busy seasons in 2012-13. A Wynn host suddenly wrote to him as well even though dad never tried Wynn or Encore (no explicit offers there aside from free hotel nights, though, just a promise of being taken care of).

Cross-marketing agreements between competing gaming companies might be a new trend?

I doubt it's cross marketing. More likely activity from Central Clearing House lists of markers and check cashing.

Hmm... maybe I should do some check cashing, even with no intention to play.

    Hi Alan:

If they will double your free play at CET, I would take them up on it. the Golden Nugget is a nice place, particularly the rooms in their new tower. If you like Rincon's Fiore, you should also like the GN's Vic & Anthony steakhouse. I personally like the change of pace at downtown LV after so much time on the strip.

Thanks FAB but if they really do give me $1800 which doubled my offer from Caesars but they make it $600 per day it's not a deal for me. I usually go for just two nights and not three. I'd rather have $900 at once at Caesars than $600 per day for two days at GN.

Why not go at the same time as a good CET offer and "double dip"?

I have criticized others for double dipping -- registering at two hotels simultaneously. I won't do it. I leave this to others.

    I don't understand this.

I assume you are morally against this practice? What is it that bothers you? Leaving a hotel room empty?

I don't understand why. The purpose of these offers is to get you in their casino, not necessarily to get you in one of their hotel rooms.

So here you have an opportunity to have 2 simultaneous offers, easily making a trip to Vegas worthwhile, and you're not taking it because you don't want to hog two rooms at once?

Maybe bring a friend along and let them use the second room?

All I can say here is that casinos are not your friend. They exist to take as much of your money as possible.

I support any legal method of turning the tables on them.

BTW if your issue is taking up two hotel rooms at once and perhaps denying someone else the ability to get into the hotel, why not just instantly check out of one of the rooms when you're done with the freeplay? That would free it up for anyone else who wants it.

For 11 years I regularly booked a min. of 3 and a max. of 6 rooms on almost every Nv. trip just to p/u the parts of the offers that appealed to me--sometimes in different Nv. cities at the same time. I even figured out how to manipulate the Harrah's "must have a certain #of days between booking offers" stipulation once they caught on to people taking advantage of their ridiculous barrage of offers in the same cities during the same time periods.

No regrets. Alan, there is no rational reason to not take take take. Do you think they would feel bad taking your money at different casinos on the same day?

  15. #15
Interesting twist to this thread. Singer makes total sense to me on this. Dan Druff is also making sense as well. Why not manipulate the offers as Singer puts it. If I had the time to travel to other cities I believe I would do the same thing. If you can double your free play at the GN and pick an additional offer with CET as Dan Druff states, why not do it? This is true that the Casino is not your friend and basically they are there to take your money with I believe no regrets. Alan why are you being so "Holier than thow?" Are you just here to make points with CET? My many hats are off to Singer and Dan Druff. It's about time that Alan opens his eyes and takes a look at the real picture here. Rob keep writing because you make total sense to me. Dan Druff keep double dipping. Alan.......really? Get real! I'm getting awfully tired of your Pollyanna Cinderella point of view. Are you just here to make points with CET?

Yeah, and he pays all his taxes too!

  17. #17
I have even booked two CET rooms simultaneously before, in different markets!

This includes staying in Vegas and booking a night in Laughlin (and leaving the Vegas room empty while I visit Laughlin), and I did the same thing in December, visiting Biloxi for a night (90 miles away) while staying multiple nights in New Orleans.

Why not? Because comp whoring doesn't continue indefinitely. Comps are given according to play. I don't play enough to check into multiple hotels. Rob plays $25 video poker and hits $100000 jackpots so perhaps he can pull it off. I couldn't.

Dan who claims to be overcomped is now undercomped and no host wants to touch him.

Thank you but I'm doing just fine. I have no complaints with what I'm getting.

Would be an understandable point of view if you were trying to avoid "ruining" comps at both properties, but I thought you have no history at the Golden Nugget (and therefore no desire to go there)?

So what would be the harm in taking their double-freeplay offer, running it through, cashing out, and never coming back?

And then you can play normally at Caesars like you otherwise would have anyway.

It's pretty obvious to me that my play -- no matter where I play -- is being tracked. How does the GN know to send me an invitation? If you don't think one casino company can't see that you are playing at another casino you are fooling yourself.

If there weren't so many computers and so many data bases, your plan for "hit and run" double dipping could work.

Maybe in my younger days it would be worth trying. To be honest: if GN allowed me double my Caesars offers in one day I would stay there. In the past they told me it would be split over three days. Do you think I want to go through the trouble of running back and forth between Caesars Palace and the GN over three days? Heck no. I have other things to do besides riding back and forth between casinos downtown and on the Strip.

And I certainly would have a hard time explaining to my girlfriend what the heck I was doing.

I leave that creativity to you other guys. But instead of driving or cab rides back and forth, I'd rather have dinner, or room service, or see a show, or sight-see... not to mention the other fun things you can do.

But if the folks from the GN are reading this, take note: Offer me double what I get at Caesars and give it to me on ONE day instead of over 3 days, and you might get me to try you out. Otherwise, GN is not worth the effort.
