Thread: advantage play on credit lines?

  1. #1
On my last trip to Vegas I found out that when you have multiple markers from different dates the oldest markers are paid first. When I mentioned this to a fellow forum member he suggested that this would allow an interestimg advantage play.

    For example:

You have a $2000 credit line. Repayment due in 30 days.

On day #1 you take a $1,000 cash marker. On day 29 you take another $1000 marker. The next day you pay back the first $1000 marker.

    You repeat the process.

Question: how long can you continue this before the casino catches on?

Alan: I wish I could answer your question, but I know that if I ever use markers in the future I would never do this trick. The free interest earned wouldn't seem worth the risk of earning a bad reputation as some sort of "marker freeloader". Maybe I am just speaking from ignorance as to how the marker system works...

Also, money market interest rates are so low right now that it doesn't seem to be worth the hassle.

Alan---I have had markers all over the country at numerous casinos. Always the payment went to the newest one, not the oldest. So if you want to keep rolling, you need enough new money to pay the markers in full and then re-pull new markers.

Years ago when the casinos first came to Illinois you could designate which marker you wanted to pay. So if your line of credit was 5000, you could take 2500 marker. Then in 30 days take another marker for 2500 and then pay the old one. Haven't been able to do that for years and never could at Caesars properties in Vegas.

Not sure you were given correct info.
