First off, expecting to win $3000 with a $10k bankroll is insane. You'd need extraordinary good luck to do so, and since vp is a very unforgiving game, don't count on it happening. Setting a win goal of $500 playing a single denomination is challenging enough, but more attainable.
Five-play is a good approach, but start at quarters and play up to 2000 credits. Use a high variance game such as SDBP, TBP+, Super Aces BP, or even DDBP if none of these are available. Don't worry about the paytables being positive or negative, but play the best one you can find where it is you choose to play. If you lose the quarters w/o attaining the $500 win goal, play the same game at dollars. Remember you need to recover your $500 in quarter losses and anything lost in dollars PLUS attain at least a $500 net profit before quitting. If you fail, go to the $2 level and continue with 2000 more credits. I usually recommend at least four levels, but if $10,000 is all you have then it's all you have.
