Thread: best demonination to play for my bankroll

  1. #21
Oops, I play "Alan's" machine 3116. Aces and Faces.

  2. #22
Wouldn't it be cool if machine 3116 had a game like A-C-E-$ Bonus Poker, only it'd have the word A-L-A-N spelled out in small letters instead for the big jackpot of 4000 credits + A Free Steak Dinner with Alan Mendelson?

    Hey Rob

I am glad you have given me something to think about with the ambitious hope of getting a 30% profit. I guess I have compared my scenario to my previous vp trips and have regularly gotten 30% ahead and have quit in most of them.
for example I went to mirage with 3k, put $100 in and played quarters and got up to $135. Then as I showed before I got confused and played the $100 job and hit straight flush for 5k.
I ended up coming home 7k up that trip and quit when I was ahead on all games I played.

I think I would honestly be happy with a 10% profit, I'm happy to play higher denominations which although I know will be a faster way to wipe out, will also be a faster way to hit something to take me close to the win I want.

at the end of the day it's all a gamble and uncertain of course, so I will rethink. Thanks all for the replies, very insightful.

Well, the 4000 credits and a free steak sound good. lol

I should add I have $600 free play so I'm hoping that will help get to my goal!

Are you willing to play a 5c/10c/25c/50c progression with a $25 win goal? (Remember, $25 is the minimum stop-play point. Most of the wins will be higher, with some much higher)?

  7. #27
Absolutely, I'm open to all ideas and strategies.

so start at lowest denomination and wait until I hit $25 win goal then go up one denomination? rinse and repeat?

Sorry rymetymeuk, I think Rob is responding to my post. Sure Rob. That's a great start.

You never go UP in denomination after attaining a win. That's what every vp addict in the world does. Once the minimum win goal is reached, you either go home happy or you start over at your lowest denomination.

    Hey all

just to quickly let you know how my trip to the Wynn went.
I took $5800, I returned home with $9300. So i was happy and was lucky.

Played that $100 credit VP JoB, hit two 2 pair, one three of a kind and a $50 credit full house (wish I had kept it at $100 for that one). Also hit a $5 credit 4 5's on TDBP, gave some of it back of course but ended up a winner.

Saw someone waiting to get paid for a $100k royal, not in the hi limit room either. It was a fun trip, and my last to Vegas for quite some time.

You did very well. I have never seen anything higher than a $10 vp machine outside of the Wynn hi limit room. Was this at Encore maybe?

  13. #33
Thanks Rob. I quit when I was ahead so that was a good move.

there's a bank of 3 machines with 1,5,10,25 with your back to the red card counter near the tower suites entrance that he was playing.

OK thanks. Those used to be $1/$2/$5/$10. They're in a good public spot for passers-by to gawk at. And a great incentive too.

Just wondering what guideline you would advise on either starting over on the same machine or playing another? Thanks.

That is only a matter of preference. If I lost my first round then I would be more inclined to change machines or even casinos. Whatever makes me feel best.

First off, expecting to win $3000 with a $10k bankroll is insane. You'd need extraordinary good luck to do so, and since vp is a very unforgiving game, don't count on it happening. Setting a win goal of $500 playing a single denomination is challenging enough, but more attainable.

Five-play is a good approach, but start at quarters and play up to 2000 credits. Use a high variance game such as SDBP, TBP+, Super Aces BP, or even DDBP if none of these are available. Don't worry about the paytables being positive or negative, but play the best one you can find where it is you choose to play. If you lose the quarters w/o attaining the $500 win goal, play the same game at dollars. Remember you need to recover your $500 in quarter losses and anything lost in dollars PLUS attain at least a $500 net profit before quitting. If you fail, go to the $2 level and continue with 2000 more credits. I usually recommend at least four levels, but if $10,000 is all you have then it's all you have.
After the $500 win you drive back to Scottsdale and tag the building. Right, Rob?

    Thanks. Makes common sense.

That shows you not only make up your own stupid stories about gambling, you make them up about others. AA would be a good place for you to be tonight instead of at some loner bar with other Montana losers with no dental plans and with $800 jackpot maximumswith 10% "edges" guaranteeing $587 in profit.

You're an idiot, Slobbie. The 10% edges is why I don't need big jackpots.
